Depending on the Lenses you intend to use the RedRock is a great system. I’ve seen this spinning ground glass system with some Prime Nikons at amazing results….for the money it’s about the same as the JVC HZ-CA13U PL…keep in mind you need lenses too. But pawn shops, ebay & ext. could result in some good finds.

We are having the same problem but on a G5 System. Like you, it’s like someone threw a swith because we’re doing the same procedures as always and now we’re dropping frames of Video. We can only capture about 30 seconds of A/V before it drops frames. After some research on the net we’ve found that this is becoming a problem for more than just us. It looks as though the culprit is upgrading to Quicktime 7.1.5 for FCP systems 4.5 or younger. We are attempting to re-install an older version of Quicktime now. If anyone else has any suggestions please post it.

Thank you to the cow community…….. Shortly after posting this problem I ran across a rather unusual way to fix this. Atleast it worked this time. I opened up a different project and went to system settings and tabed to “memory & cache” The top bar said the memory was at 100% at 1320mps. I scrolled down to 38% of that, I forget what the file size was then…went back to the project..saved and quit. Then re-opened the same project went back to “memory & cashe” and set it back to 100% however the file size incresed to 1323mps. I again went back to the project saved and closed it allowing FCP to still be active. At that point I opend the project in question with the bad sequence. Clicked twice on the sequence and procedeed to put my head down. To my amazement I could hear the G-Raid going through the motions and low and behold I looked up and all was right with this project….again thanks to the cow community.

  • Hey thanks for the reply and support. I did re-install Quicktime and it fixed the problem, however I did not trash any Library files. But like I said it seems to be capturing fine. Should I be worried having not trased any library files?

    Thanks for your time.
