So students are shooting on RED now? That’s pretty amazing.

    Hehe…
Yes, in Norway we are 😛

  • Hi and thanks 😀

I’ll check out the JES Deinterlacer!

RED footage is shot at 25 fps. Originally two of the scenes was shot in 50 fps, but we imported it into Shake for some graphic background etc, and then exported it as SD at 25 fps 😀

    Thanks in advance,
    Solfrid

  • Okay, I’ve heard some great stuff about that capture card and I am looking forward to the day when I can test it out!
But I am a student still, so investing is not my strongest side right now 😀

Is there any other way to export both progressive and interlaced video, but still keep the quality?

    Thanks in advance,
    Solfrid

I too have a similar problem.
My exported QT video shows black and white frames in between different shots. Only one black frame here and one white frame there, randomly and apparently for no reason. The timeline shows no black or white frames where it appears in the exported video.

I tried to open a copy of my project on another computer, but it was the
same problem there (and that was in the newest 6. version).

I have both progressive and interlaced video in my sequense, but there is no “frame”-problem between those shots.

If it is a bug in this FCP version, or in the sequence is not good to say… Anyone? 😀

  • That’s normal. FC canvas display with a 2.2 gamma, like a PC or Monitor.
QT Player display with the 1.8 Apple native Gamma.
In the QT Preferences check: Enable FC Studio Color Compatibility.

    Okay 😀
But if I use the already exported QT file and encode it into a Flash file, the same Gamma correction appears, slightly brighter there too..

By the way, I still haven’t figured out the white and black frame problem… 😀

    Thanks in advance,

  • Thank you for your quick answer.

I have been working on my project in FCP version 5.1.4, not in version 6. 😀
If it is a bug in that version, or in the sequence is not good to say.

I tried to open a copy of my project on another computer, but it was the
same problem there (and that was in the newest 6. version).

I’ve also noticed that my exported QT movie is slightly brighter than it appears in FCP.
Can’t really figure out why, they should’ve been similar both in the timeline and in the export when I choose same settings, shouldn’t they?

    Thanks in advance,
    Solfrid
