I’m trying to export a Quicktime movie of a sequence from FCP 6.0 — Every time I do it, it inserts 1 frame of black in between every cut. Any ideas on how to get rid of this? They are not in my original sequence !

Change your canvas to 100% and set through the sequence. What’s the media exactly? Where did it come from? What’s the format, codec, frame rate. Same for the sequence. Please give full information. We can’t see your computer.

    The format is DVCPro HD 720p60 960 X 720 (1248X702)
    Shot on P2 camera.
    Frame rate = 23.98
    49mb/s

The sequence is set at HD 960X720 (16:9) (should I change this to 1248X702, the frame rate of the actual clip? i wasn’t sure if my MBPro15″ 2.4ghz system could handle it).

    – DVC Pro HD 720 P60 compressor
    – 23.98 timebase
    – anamorphic is _not_ checked off.. (maybe it should be?)
-render in 8 bit YUV (should it be RGB?)
    Proceess maximum white as White
    motion filter-normal

Is your clip information coming from the QuickTime player? What does it say in FCP item properties? Those numbers look strange to me, but then I don’t work with this DVCPRO HD compressed format. It is anamorphic I know that, but 1248×702 seems strange to me. Perhaps someone who has experience with this format can help you.

If you are absolutely certain there is not 1-frame gap in your timeline between the clips then you are seeing a mismatch in the field setup between your clips and the sequence. You are editing with progressive clips in an interlaced sequence?

In the Item Properties of the clips, it says:

    Creator: Quicktime player
    23.98fps
    960X720
    5.mb/sec
    pixel aspect: 960×720
    composite=normal

Did anyone find a solution to this? I seem to be having the same problem, using the same set up.

DVCPro HD footage, on export I get black frames at timeline edits, etc…

    Thanks!

I too have a similar problem.
My exported QT video shows black and white frames in between different shots. Only one black frame here and one white frame there, randomly and apparently for no reason. The timeline shows no black or white frames where it appears in the exported video.

I tried to open a copy of my project on another computer, but it was the
same problem there (and that was in the newest 6. version).

I have both progressive and interlaced video in my sequense, but there is no “frame”-problem between those shots.

If it is a bug in this FCP version, or in the sequence is not good to say… Anyone? 😀

I’ve seen this issue in footage that was exported from Final Cut Pro and given to me for use in After Effects. I’m not sure why it happens, though.
