[Guy McLoughlin] “Lowel lights are definitely not clumsy”
You must be kidding!!! You can’t touch the damn thing if its on for more than 3 minutes. and what about the mess of wires that you have to carry around. I am not saying they are useless but they are better used in a fixed setup.
[Guy McLoughlin] “If you know how to use a fresnel light you should know how to adjust it to achieve an even spread of light across the area you are shooting.”
Its not all that easy. I have seen some experienced people struggle having an even spread of light. And you loose half of your light in doing so!

Any specific reason???
I have shot some stuff at 720 before. I thought it was great!

Lowel lights are clumsy and too hot. Plus if you are shooting HD, often times you’ll get the circular pattern in the middle of you frame. Thats because how it is designed.
I would rather suggest you something like microbeam 128. Its a LED light. A strong intensity light, easy to carry around and it stays cool. Another great thing is that it works with panasonic batteries so you don’t have to have a plug nearby!

You need to say what you plan to shoot?
In my opinion, if you are shooting a film or a music video or something that is staged, you can go for a 35mm f1.4 or a 50mm f1.4 or f1.8 lens.
If you want to shoot an event you might want to have one wide angle and one of the above mentioned ones.
But at the end it all depends on what you need it for & how much money can you spend on these lenses.

I am thinking of getting a 17-55mm EF-S 2.8 for my T2i.I plan to use T2i with a glidecam. I mostly do wedding work.
Do you think this a wide enough lense to go on a glidecam?

Maybe you need to check in the filter’s tab as to what kind of output are you looking at.
I use primatte RT and it works very well for me.

This seems to be some kind of plug-in.
However you can use the lens flare effect in the video filters option of FCP. You can then create three keyframe points between 2 clips ex. one with 25% flare, one with 100% and one with 25% again. It will pretty much give you the same kind of effect.

Removing the glass removes the glare from the screen & makes it easier to shoot outdoors.

Viewfinders are ok but you can’t use them with a steadicam or a glidecam.
