Because the sequence in FCP is set to 29.97 so when I export to Compressor it has that frame rate already set.

Are you saying I should just use compressor as a stand alone. And not even bother with final cut?

ok so if I just change the frame rate in the compressor’s inspector to 23.98 for the M2V all should work?

I right clicked on the sequence and went to settings where I changed the frame rate to 23.98 from 29.97. Suddenly my timeline vanished and I can’t get it back.

Hi,

I stumbled on to your post because I have a related question. I’m encoding a program from DVD using stream clip so that I can deliver to the iTunes video store. The program is an 80s concert video that is 4×3 NTSC. However, Apple spec calls for 4×3 to have 720×480 resolution. But when I encode at 720×480 the program appears stretched. If I encode at 640×480 it looks correct. I know Apple will reject if I deliver 640×480.

What can I do to deliver as a 720×480 without it looking stretched? I have Final Cut at my disposal if need be.

Any ideas?

This is all they said so far.

1) The menu ‘disappears’ on the check discs. It shows up on the master
but we have made three stampers and three check discs and the same problems
each time. Our mastering group checked with an outside software company who
said that this sounds like an authoring issue but unless they looked at it,
they couldn’t confirm that. If we sent it to them it would cost money to
investigate further.

And they say they take DVD DLs all the time. I know two DVD 5s would be better. I’ve never done that though. How do you do that?

I could just lower the bit rate to 4.1 — and put on one DVD 5 — I’m a little worried to do that since this film is from an academy award winning director. Do you think 4.1 is too low?
