Thanks a lot – some great advice. Thanks for taking the time to read the post details as well since your overlay idea for the psd files could definitely work. At the least the resizing of the source video to be able to export at the same resolution as the sequence should make life a lot easier.
My website database is set up to accept flv files (not f4v unfortunately) so I’ll try and find a solution for these initially. My working knowledge of Premiere is pretty ‘specialised’ so it’s great to hear of some new approaches!

Firstly the original image quality is ok – static indoor shots with studio lighting so not too much noise. I can actually render decent quality flv video files, it’s the other formats that are poor quality – quicktime, avi, h.264, windows media are all larger file sizes than the flv files but much worse image quality – not sure if it’s my export settings, or maybe my actual codec as previously mentioned (?)
There is a premiere sequence template for avchd 60 fps interlaced which is basically what my camcorders shoot. I’ve been using this preset which pretty much matches the raw video files as far as I’m aware. Thanks for the advice though

I’m using cs4 on a pc. file – export – media allows you to export in a format of your choice. under export settings you can choose differen formats, output name allows you to specify file name, location, and depending on format you choose there are a number of tabs underneath which allow you to change video, audio etc settings. Media encoder allows you to queue files up and render them in batches (good for leaving on overnight)
microsoft avi has pal dv preset, but I’m no expert on the best formats to use for dvd.
If you get any decent results let me know your settings because I’m struggling with image quality myself at the minute!
