August 25, 2017 at 7:51 am in reply to: How to syncronize resolve and protools

    Workflow
This sounds like back in 1997

Syncing protools to chase a video deck

    It’s basically the same thing

It’s your video interface and you timecode/midi interface

Now in my case I use a Motu and an old Opcode studio Xtc
As it will allow me to sync everything to blackburst/gen lock

    And LTC and MMC
But again it’s locking an old system to the new system

    Not the other way around

You don’t use Protools as a master it is always the slave to the resolve edit timeline
    The locked picture
Trying to make resolve follow protools is well it’s really the same thing

But I only was able to do that with a locked protools session via an OMF file that came from an Avid Film Composer

So chase locking the protools to the video deck which is really what you are trying to do here

I have not done it but I will be following this thread to see your success . I too want to do this with protools but now it’s an mbox so I have to go through midi interface ….Motu

I would like to do an experiment to see if I can chase lock three systems all via black burst box and LTC

An old 9600 mac tower that is still churning
    OS9 Protools Free
But through the Opcode studio Xtc box
I have two now . One as a backup. These are rare!

  • What computer are you using

    I am running 10.10.5
    Cuda Web driver

But if you accidentally updated security update from Apple?

Like I did? It no longer worked the web driver nvidia cuss

I had to do a clean install
And now I turn off auto updates

Rainer can you please email me again about this solution?
    I am grateful.
I think you might have emailed me private but I am not sure.

I have the Mac 5,1 and I want to do this as frugal as possible.
    I don’t need SSD as u say…I could go HDD ,
I just need help in this card business like Bob Zelin told me….

Is there an ATTO card link? I mean as it is now I have eSATA card hooked up to my LACIE BIG 4 drives…I wanted to upgrade those HD as I only have 2TB max now….with four 500GB drives.
I know that I was told to buy from B&H lacie drives to replace these, but can’t I just buy from Frys? or AMAZON drives and replace using the same CARTRIDGE or SHELFS that the 500GB are now mounted inside of?
This will give me maximum for my PHOTOGRAPHY STILLS needs on another computer that is eSATA.

But the MAC 5,1 I only have that one slot to replace and I need to have an EXTENTION CARD? is this correct? to house another PCIe not PCIX I have PCIe or whatever is FASTEST not THUNDERBOLT obviously in this setup…

to get 4K DCI playback on a timeline?

    thanks for advice

    singleton

PS- yes I have two systems….one eSATA can be for the eSATA LACIE BIG 4 and another gRAID eSATA drive those are for backing up media and PHOTO STILLS…not MOTION VIDEO playback at 4K DCI….but only HD I understand my limits…

but on this 5,1 computer I want to use the DECKLINK 4K card I have installed with the best RAID DRIVES….

Might I install INTERNAL DRIVES? to do this ? I only have one 3TB so far….but have nothing in the other bays….

or am I not understanding the PORT SPEED? MAX with this 5,1 computer…it is possible to playback 5K RED too? or ARRI I just need a ATTO card or solution to do this even if the EXTERNAL is RENTED on the DIT JOB?

    thanks

i didnt realize i cannot thunderbolt on my system even with a card…

but any pcie and ATTO card solutions? i need to be able to do 4K DCI
external housing? and are SSD possibke too?

my system has been upgraded to 12 core 3.0 GHZ
    titan X with web drivers
    os x 10.10
    blackmagic design decklink pro 4K
eSata card for my lacie big4 raid and a g-drive 2TB both esata
(am i capped out at 3Gb or is it 6Gb without a Superman Atto FIX?
512mb Samsung Flash RAM for OSX….its smoking fast”””

i was listenijg to the other thread about SSD Raids and the ability they have but they didnt say i was in trouble with the thunderbolt

the guys system seemed older than mine…

but any infor wouod be gratefui

as in sites like they listed

i got four , but if that is not SAS i wiol have to ask

October 7, 2016 at 1:07 am in reply to: slow motion in FCP7 – (back to stone age?)

    ok call me stupid…
but when I bought the HVX200 it was working with FCP 5 or whatever version with some P2 plug-in…..

Why do I have footage on my hard drive that plays back at 60fps….

but just recently….I shot in FILM MODE 24p and 60frames and it shows in the viewer 60P

I never remember that being an issue…

But I log and Transfer like I did with my CANON…..and the P2 interface now has some AVC INTRA and to PRORES

I get it in the time line,…..and now it says SEQ 23.98……but it plays back at 59.97!!!!!!! why?

I over cranked it…..it used to playback slow-motion…..why is this not working now? is there something they changed after FCP 7? that FCS? makes everything wrong?

I went back to read my HVX200 book…and it says all the gobble gook…about frame rates and shutter angles….I remember it being much easier……..it just played back on the camera.>

am I doing something wrong? or is my camera broken? FILM SPEED….24p 720p 180shutter angle….60FRAMES

it shows 60P in the window…..and when I play it back it looks like video!!!!!

what is going on….I wanted it to play at 24fps

so something is now going over my head……

it has been awhile since I had to do in camera

but all my footage i have on my drive plays back slow motion…

is it TRANSFERING and RECOMPRESSING? is that the issue?

oh gad……..I am going back to film! 2perf 35 never sounded more tasty

    https://www.macvidcards.com/store/p44/Nvidia_GTX_Titan_X_12_GB_%282014%29.html

this is the same card i have installedin my 5,1
i was not sure if it would work on your 3,1 so I looked it up on their site…

it is a grand but they are including the mac flashing service which might be worth it because I have had headaches and downtime dealing with webdrivers and not being able to see the screen because my webdrivers got wiped out by the security update

    but that said…
I have a GeForce GT 120 with only 512mb I useto get the system up and running with….

then you can either leave it in or pull it out once the Titan X web drivers and cuda drivers are installed.
    note
turn on AUTOMATIC LOG IN from the USERS LOG IN WINDOW to bypass the password screen.
I have had a problem with it defaulting back to the gt 120 card even though I re-arranged it to be the 2nd monitor and have no tool bar….

with Yosemite you have tool bar on both…..once you are logged in

but if for some reason you leave it to LOG IN WINDOW list USERS and expect to have to put in a password?
With the gt120 installed it picks it first by default…

But ONCE I take that card out of the tower

I replace it with my eSATA pcie card.

Then I just have to wait until the system boots which is only 30secs!!!!!! because of the flash drive pcie card 512GB I have installed for OSX

So I do not see an APPLE Screen….but I do see the Yosemite Background and my desktop once it has booted.

This is with a TITAN X 12GB VRAM and no MAC FLASHING on the card…..
in other words I can use it on this mac 5,1

then pull it out and put it into the PC if I need it for COLOR GRADING and CUDA CORES on that system…..

Hybrid is best in my opinion…

but less headaches is worth the money buying from MACVIDCARDS.com

    just saying…

Based upon your Mac rom you should be able to find like the genius above says with less words on Macvidcards.com

You could buy a card from them to get you quickly up am running

But again you do not need to flash your card for Mac
That is just for the boot screen

I have it working using another cheap nvidia card 512mb just to see the install
Or you can use VNC from another Mac and share screen that works too

But once you install the CUDA drivers and the web drivers

It will work you just will not see the Apple boot screen if you take out the 512mb nvidia card.

The TitanX boots up a few seconds after
