Get a TitanX used on ebay the maxwell version is very cheap now since the new Pascal versions Are whetting everyone’s whistles

But I bought two TitanX for a great deal
Then sold one on ebay and made a little extra to offset my cards cost

    I bought two for $1200

    Sold it for around $790

And no I do not recommend flashing the cards!
You do not need the boot screen
Plus it will damage the value of you want to resell it or put it into a PC for color grading purposes

Macvidcards does have the great list of web drivers for the particular OSX that you are running

    I am currently at 10.10.5
I will verify my web driver tonight
The number is long and I have a few versions on my harddrive
I do not want to give you the wrong one

    But that said!
Be very careful and turn off Apple updates automatic function

I just got screwed through the drive through on 9/2/2016 security update
My mac tower 5,1 was normally not plugged into the Internet
But I plugged it into the router to exchange files

Some how the autopilot was on and I went for a coffee break
Came back and my web drivers had become obsolete!!!! Incompatible!

    So be careful!

  • SO I heard that El Capitan got web drivers on friday or sat……I read it on a forum…..but got excited and went looking for Yosemite….nothing…am I screwed? do you think they will release anything now that the PASCAL has been released?

My question is because I just got discouraged because I spoke chatted with an idiot on nvidia tech support that was arguing with me about my ability to use TITAN X on a MAC…he said it wasn’t listed as a supported feature….he wanted me to actually prove it to him!

I was like …poh ph ph oh know…….and I sent link after link……he said “oh so I wil pass it on…”
but then he came back and said NO WEB DRIVERS for EL CAPTIAN
    and I said YOSEMITE!!!!!
And he was not even I think believing me ……I think he thought I was nuts…..

even the links I showed and your message…got no response …..he read it and said NO WEB DRIVERS FOR EL CAPITAN…..its not that I don’t believe you….sir, I just caon’t find it on our system….so I don’t think it exist….

I felt like kicking my computer screen…..

Ok….I will go meditate….but I will not have a YOSEMITE OSX unless I go BEG APPLE at the STORE…because they have only MAVERICKS and MOUNTAIN LION and EL CAPITAN…why did they TAKE AWAY YOSEMITE on my list? I know I have upgraded my laptop…..why would it leave if it was my user account? unless they just want EL CAPITAN users…..they are so screwing with me….MAVERICKS is a JOKe……I feel like getting a PC…..and running LINUX

well in 1995 it could have been more than just a da 88
but I thought those were specific to DAT TAPES the mini size….not 8mm I could be wrong….

3m 8mm tapes being archived might have been from a different system.

I know JAZ was around and IOMEGA was the rave for Americans…but a producer was trying to give me a BEURELLI or some ITALIAN type DEVICE he said was obsolete but it was a TAPE CARTRIDGE BACKUP system…..

I looked at it and I seem to recall it might have been 8mm tapes…..but I could be thinking about another device entirely….

I will look back in my files…..and links and reply……I think you should be able to ask the DAW on YAHOO about anything AUDIO based…..I never get a answer that isn’t resolved……I helped people get floppy drives copies for Emu lator updates….and Atari sequencers for OMS…..etc. all obsolete for most people…but someone is still using it someplace……

you might try to extract the data while you are on that mac 9.2.2 with an application that can open RAW, like PEAK by BIAS…..I remember you can open just about anything digitally once it is captured.

If you can get the data to capture via audio and video on a 8mm video deck or camera you could then a certain from that garbage or noise……opening in PEAK it would or should a certain if it is a SMTPE like TONE or just SCATTERED, but the PATTERN it provides, should then tell you if it is in fact a DATA TAPE, by looking at the SPECS of various legacy drives or devices…….and clues like frequency modulation ….nothing is static like video tape without timecode or control track…….but that is different SNOW than the SNOW you get from an ANALOG ANTENNA am I making sense?

IF you look at the file……..visually and in PEAK you might be able to run a filter on it……and actually find other clues about the DATA as in BIT RATE , and if you are really lucky……you can cut it up into a million pieces…….and release it as the next AUTECTURE or APHEX TWIN or FOUR TET ALBUm……they all sound like this digital truncated……WILLIAM BURROUGHS CUT=UP METHOD style…….anyway……..maybe you have Beethoven’s last symphony…..he was still composing in 1995,,,,,,ir was that CAMER VAN BEETOVEN….?

  • Thanks for the guide this is very helpful!!!!!

Few questions since I have changed a few things

    1. 12 core Mac 5,1 now instead of the other weaker one.
    2. Pcie with m.2 512GB flash ram ssd for OSX and resolve 12
    3. M4000 nvidia card for getting my feet wet with CUDA and Resolve it’s half the price of Titan X and half. CUDA
    4. Deck link extreme 4K card installed

Now which is best pcie card for storage?
Please send me a link for ATTO vs. Others and fibre channel vs other cheaper solutions.

Also with this flash ram Running OSx and resolve

Is it not possible to max out the RAM AND USE RAM DISK for fastest processing possible?
Of course backup for later safety and when machine is off

But what about on set quick form shoot dit edit then color grade then output!? For short form media?

    Thanks again

I’m comparing this to a flame I know but 15, eo 60 max 90 secs is what I need.

Cutting a feature OK then you need a fibre channel or can out please tell me the best case pcie scenario for external or internal raids? Thanks again

Wow would another pcie m.2 at 2TB just be a blade runner cutting beast?

  • Yes. I agree. I believe now from the other reads, that it is a card reader issue, vs. using the camera as card reader.

It is really stupid, I understand that most people are not going to use their camera all the time for uploading their content, but come on.

Why did it work on my wife’s little SD900 CANON camera? that uses SD media and not on my CANON big FLAGSHIP MARK IV thing?

Sometimes I feel like the 5d or the 7d can do more easily and cheaper like the remotes are cheaper, and this issue of using the UDMA card I assume is the reason that this has become such a bother.

I do not see getting the QIO by Sonnet but I have one p2 card. and over here on the canon one UDMA card. oh and one SDHC card, that at the time I was using it in the Nikon D90 as a card reader. I had no issues. It is a CANON thing.

I was going to upgrade to a new card reader as the old SD slot on an HP printer wouldn’t read the SDHC so I hem and hawed as I didn’t need it, I used the NIKON D90. simple. one card. one camera…quick.

but, now I am wanting to get the best investment without going overboard.

Does anyone know if the Qio by Sonnet would be a great investment for MULTI-CARD reader into the FUTURE? when the next SLOT gets replaced by another format? (I am talking about the APPLE laptop that went from 54 size to 34 size now to SDHC size.)

Now as I see only Delkin makes a professional cheap solution.
But, when I look at the Qio I get big eyes as that thing expands your eSata as well (I have 2 eSata Raids that could be utilized, but I also have the EXPRESS eSata card by Sonnet 34, that I do not know how it fits into this equation.)

I would rather spend a cheap card reader now, to get this solution working quickly, but I would love to hear what brands people are using?

I can’t find any at BEST BUY….that read UDMA

    I appreciate any info…

Yes. This looks like it would be similar for my MarkIV but I am not sure exactly.

I was able from the 5D my friend has to use the plug in I think because the CAMERA mounted from the USB cable or more than likely I can’t remember as it was a while ago we tested this before the firmware update. But I think he used a USB CARD READER which automatically MOUNTS the CARD as a DRIVE.

However, when I use the USB cable with the MARKIV I have noticed it bypasses the MOUNTING as a DISK, and IMAGE CAPTURE or whatever app I use just shows the FILES…and so I get the same ERROR message as the rest of the group.

I find this to be a problem as my NIKON D90 didn’t have this problem…It must be a CANON thing.

Oh so back to the solution. Thanks for posting this for the 7D, can anyone verify what the MARKIV SYSTEM would look like? I really need to use this plug in, and I didn’t wish to just go out and NEED to buy a CARD READER to use it…

I assume this DRAG and DROP to a HOME MADE FILE STRUCTURE is the only BEST CASE work around?

Much thanks again for the SUPPORT on this CANON issue!
