[Michael McCune] “But the simplest things, such as dropping a tif file onto the node field, fail. Often no console error message, just nothing.”

I have just tried this in multiple combinations in Fusion 16.0 (and 16.1.1) and it works just fine for me.

Perhaps an uninstall/reinstall of Fusion 16 is called for?

I am going to get tough about this here because this forum will get referenced again in the future by people other than you.

Your suggested method is very bad practice. You might like it, but I cannot recommend that anyone else adopt it.

It’s extremely important to be addressing the issue of transparency *within the context of the individual project*. This is just good housekeeping. You should always know what the alpha channel of your project looks like and be in direct control of it.

The notion of killing off transparency via the Preferences is a recipe for disaster. And completely unnecessary and inappropriate.

    Ah, OK.

In which case this screenshot is a little simpler than you’ll need because you’ll have various detached Planar Trackers nodes hanging around.

I’ve shown you how to composite three different TV inserts for demonstration purposes.

I cannot stress enough that you should not do what the cheap and nasty tutorials show you, which is to use the Planar Tracker to create the composite.

In order to get a decent result you really do need a Polygon Mask for the TV screen so that you can get the edges precise and appropriately soft.

This is where using the Planar Transform makes it clean and easy because you can apply it independently to your mask and to your insert.

You don’t mention whether or not your TVs are all on the same plane or whether they are at angles to each other and hence require a different planar track for each.

    It does the same thing.

But I would suggest that it’s not good practice, because you will inevitably forget to change it back after you’ve finished and then the next time you want to export a project with transparency you’ll wonder why the heck there is none.

Planar Transform is your friend and makes it far easier to work with the Planar Tracker result.

Not sure why they decided it was a good idea to keep the properly useful functionality cunningly hidden away 😉

Does the Page Curl not work for you? You need to set it to Classic UI to be able to roll from the bottom rather than the corners, and you’ll probably want to use two instance slightly offset from each other to create a convincing curl.
