I’ve finally had a moment to look through all this properly. I think it’s really brilliant what you’ve done – a terrific app. There’s so much in there and so many good and very useful ideas.
I think the simplified installer option described on page 8 of the Help is exactly what is needed for most ordinary users who quickly get lost with more complex instructions, while the main application gives a huge amount of control to the power user.
This is clearly the definitive Motion Template installer for my money – I hope it catches on the way it deserves to.

Have you tried increasing the point size of your text? Does the problem still persist at a larger size? It might be that there aren’t enough pixels to carry the fine detail at the size you have chosen.

Yes, sort of. If you got to the Generators tab you will find the Shape Generator.
Add that to your timeline. In the Inspector/Generator tab, select the square shape, turn off the outline, and select the fill colour of your choice.
You now have a coloured square. The final step is to go into the Inspector/Video Tab and use the X/Y scale to get the line thickiness and length you want, set the position and change the rotation if desired.
Or you could use Motion to make a simpler template for yourself.

Lift from Storyline, Overwrite to Primary Storyline, and Nudge (either using the comma/full stop keys or the numeric keypad) also “disable ripple” in the same way you are talking about in that all these operations don’t result in a rippling behaviour.
The notion that the Position Tool is some kind of unique “magnetic timeline disabling” tool seems to me to be simplistic and possibly unhelpful as an explanation – especially when you are trying to clarify the interface for users who are having difficulty with it.

EDLs are preferred by the DI guys.”Absolutely – here in the UK too, EDL is still the lingua franca in the DI world. Editors don’t get too choose stuff like this – we have to be able to deliver what the folks at the other end of the chain require.

If this is addressed to me, I was using OMF as a minimum requirement.
Yes, AAF is more fully functional and in fact AVID now only supports AAF for export from MC.
Having said that, OMF still works fine for audio, so I think I’d just like to see FCPX try to walk before we think about running.

I very much doubt that at this micro economic level the wonders of the free market actually operate the way you are suggesting.
Intelligent Assistance for example stated at the time they brought out Xto7 that they were holding off from developing the 7toX translator because they had got wind that someone else was doing it.
Obviously this has since changed but the point still holds.
What small operator (and that’s what we’re talking about here) is going to devote scarce resources to developing products that may or may not have competitors stealing their tiny market share?

I’d be more than happy for Logic X (if it ever comes!) to be a replacement for ProTools – which is overpriced and underperforming. Logic is a great product but …
Some of us work in an environment where we don’t get to choose, and the DAW we have to work with is dictated by the industry. We have to deliver audio projects in the DAW format required and conversely take delivery of them as they come, without moving them to a different DAW.
And the industry standard is and will remain ProTools for the foreseeable future (until AVID goes bust or sells it off either of which could be sooner rather than later).
