Not that I am aware of, you need to format it as a FAT or FAT32 volume for your mac to write it.

How soon do you need the computer?
If you can wait till 2007 for native applications get an intel mac, you can run all you PC software through bootcamp and you still get great integration with most things, including Final Cut.
Not to mention in tests macs running windows, out performed PCs running windows.

the 1080i requries dual proc according to apple, of course you can do it with less, but that may be your problem

Have you tried QT Pro 7?
The only software that I have used that will do that is something like HackTV but thats OS9 and many years old. You might try BTVedit, or iMovie and see if you can play the input direct.
The best bet I would think is QT Pro 7…

What version of QT 7.1 if not download 7.1, it has much better h.264 playback performance (in previous versions of QT 7 the playback of large files was not consistent for me). Also what is the size of the video that you are playing back? Do you have High Quality mode enabled?

You have to remember with compatability issues that just because a lot of people have problems doesn’t mean you will. The problem in modern software is that developers don’t understand all the interactions in programs over 100 lines of code. So when you are dealing with OS X, Quicktime and FCP 4.5 you have so many interactions happening that its impossible to say whether it would work or not for sure.
That being said you should take problems people have with OS and other software compatibility for what its worth, because there system config is not the same as yours and therefore it may work for you and not for them.
Personally if you have a configuration that works leave it… being curious myself I probably would try the Panther QT7 and FCP4.5 option, but thats me…

Could we get some more details on what applications you want to run windowed and also your system details which version of OSX you are running…
Also have you checked on apple yet?

Now I would assume you have done the usual steps of permission repair as well?
If not do that, if you are concerned about the network try unplugging it if you can without screwing anything up, and see if that makes a difference.Also you might try cleaning your user cache folder out….
If those work then Panther should be fine, although it couldn’t hurt to move to Tiger if you can.. personally I would wait for leopard at this point, but if its imparitive to solve the problems then it couldn’t hurt to upgrade to tiger.

NO! verify your disc permission first, then boot off the install disc and verify the disc NOT the permission, fix any problems you find, and see if that helps.
