the continuous rasterisation switch is also the collapse transformations switch. check help files for the difference between the two operations.

If someone suggested junk masking the shorts, what they probably meant is to place a comp size solid roughly matching the skin tone behind the footage layer, then make a mask on the footage that covers the shorts. Then keyframe the mask so it roughly sticks onto the shorts before precomping the lot and applying the mosaic effect. Obviously the longer the shot, the longer this will take, so you’ll have to decide yourself whether it’s worth starting from scratch.

I believe you can only have three colours max in each subpicture, so this might be the problem.

Windows:
C:>Program Files>Adobe>Adobe After Effects CS3>Support Files>Presets
Change CS3 to 7.0 or whatever version you’re in, or just go hunting for the right place. You’ll need to restart AE, or right-click on the presets panel and refresh the list, to get them to appear if you already have the programme open.
Keying: You can search here at the cow for topics like junk / garbage matte, light spill etc.

Andrew addresses this issue in a follow up tutorial in which he shows how you can composite the light streaks over existing footage.
Also, I think there is now a videocopilot forum here at the Cow, which would be a good place for future questions of this kind to go.

As far as I know, Encore can only make “watchable” (as opposed to data discs) standard def dvds. Don’t know how you would get it to allow you to put an HD project on a standard disc, but if anyone else knows of a way I’d be glad to be put straight.

It’s already very compressed so it’s not like you can create super great quality from it. It depends what processing you are doing on it. If you are rendering from AE with the intention of watching it on your pc, use a compressed final format like mpeg or h.264. If you plan to do more work on it, or burn to dvd, render as QT animation / photo jpeg or lossless avi. These are higher quality, but likely to be too high a bitrate for your computer to play without subsequent compression.

It depends what you want to do, but there are two tools you might make use of. One possibility is to import a folder of your images as an image sequence. Then each image will be one frame. With a bit of maths you could then time remap the layer so that each images lasts longer than a single frame. Another thing you could do is set the still duration to 2 seconds, import your images, then place them all into a comp. Then use the sequence layers function. I could explain how this works, but it’s probably (well, definitely) easier for you to check your help files for “To arrange layers as a sequence”.

Not used Shake or Flame, so don’t know if this is exactly what you need, but Dan Ebbert’s site shows how to make curves using expressions.
