I will hedge my bets that it’s number one.. fried…point of no return…
I want to get another cam.. but I am deathly afraid of very new technology.. Someone suggested Canon Elura 100 because I would have the cassettes I am used to.. and it would be compatible for Vegas and I movie. I movie also did not detect my cam.. Mac store told me to directly film from i mac.. and it was AWFUL.. piano sounded like tin.. really bad. That’s out of the question.. kaput finished. I just skype on my imac.. I need to get back to Vegas with a decent, user friendly cam.

I am now downloading Boost Drivers program that takes forever.. If this doesn’t work. I am hauling the computer to the repair people who added the IEEE1394 connector in the back of my Dell…when I first got it about 6 months ago. It’s also interesting that when I click batch capture on Vegas, nothing pops up with the capture icons, where it used to. The program keeps saying no device detected. When everything is in place. Something is up here, and I have done everything humanely possible to address. This is not a camera problem unless Sony is messing around and wanting people to ditch old camcorders which does not please me. As a musician, I appreciate the quality of the internal mike in both my cameras. Same applies to quality of older pianos and their sound boards. (Steinway’ golden era)

I tried the many steps suggested re going to Device Manager.. and in the end it didn’t correct the capture issue.

My daughter and followed the steps to completion.. and it didn’t correct the capture problem.. I have no idea what is going on . I did check my Dell for detection of any problems.. and it did say changes is devices were not picked up.. so something systemically is wrong with my brand new Dell. I use my Imac downstairs for SKYPING lessons only. This whole Vegas thing is messing things up with my vids.

I’ve trouble shot every system. I am thinking something’s up with firewire and windows 7 as another poster suggested.. I bought new firewire and it makes no difference. I made sure the device was properly added in.. and the rest. I previously uploaded 240 vids to you tube. so none of this makes any sense… a sudden problem. I am beginning to worry

there is something odd going on…I have two sony camcorders dcr-trv340–and i like them as a classical pianist for internal mike–suddenly my vegas pro 10 won’t capture and I’ve spent hours on this problem. It’s not my cameras. I have the brand new fire wire–checked that my device is connected-checked all the settings, preferences.. and re-loaded or installed vegas.. same issues. Now I know that Sony purposely stopped shelving hi 8 cassettes so people would phase out old cameras..now I’m wondering if this is a related phase out.

no, it doesn’t. My computer, by the way, is just a few months old. Brand new. I am devastated! Continuous message on capture.. NO device detected. I’ve tried every maneuver.. putting in brand new fire wire. The adapter that connects between camera and power, is a just a few month old. I tried turning camera off and then on… moved it to VCR,, NOthing works..

I bought new Fire wire, connected it in.. My daughter the expert tried to trouble shoot..Ieee1394. We can’t get to first base, I have two
DCR TRW 340’s.. NO CAPTURING DEVICE DETECTED. MAKES NO SENSE SINCE i HAVE UPLOADED OVER 200 YOU TUBES WITHOUT A PROBLEM.. ABSOLUTELY PUZZLED.
