I’d heard that its better for traditional home cameras to use the 4:3 and then use letterbox…. since the 16:9 is just a digitally streched image… Can someone more experinced correct/clarify this?

Please someone correct me if i’m wrong?

On a camera like the xl2 which has sensors made for the 16:9 format, using widescreen is best….

I would think it would depend on the type of sensor in the camera

ok, so that did set the playback rate, however, i’m a bit confused.

    1. I CONTROL drag the edge of the clip, lengthening it.
    2. Then i go to properties and set playback rate to 1.00
    3. IT DOESN’T reset the length of the clip, only the rate…
    4. SO, its not lined up just right on the timeline and if i dragged out the clip to lengthen then reset the playrate to 1.00, how can it be THAT LONG still, since the resetting the play rate doesn’t adjust the physical length of the clip i’m viewing in the timeline, i would think it would have empty space, or else it would have to shorten…..

[sheldonhull] “What are the major things that you look for in a stunt DVD demo reel?”

    One other thought:

What are considered some really go things to include that set a stunt man above the ordinary, any particular moves I should film him doing, any particular gymnastic feat?

Thanks everyone. I actually fixed it. I went into CMOS enabled dual screen, and when i booted it up windows recognized the 3rd monitor. That easy. You should try it. 3 screens for video editing and you won’t ever go back to 2!!!! I think i’ll eventually stop at 4… (a TV to output to as the 4th)….

Thanks for your time. No i don’t want it just for the preview window. I’d like it as an extension of my desktop so I can preview on it, with a larger size, due to all the rest of the windows I keep up while working. It needs to be part of my desktop.

This is more of a windows desktop feature i need that will help my workflow in Vegas…..

    Hope this helps. Sheldon

I am passionate about learning these types of things, but due to never having been on a set or anything, i have a huge amt to learn.

Is the the normal way for editors to line up…. is that why they use the take 1, take 2 etc with the gadget that I don’t know what its called, a many times shows seconds and countdown numbers, is this for the editors to align?

Is that preference or really more efficient than SMTPE?

Lastly is it really really worth it with Genlock then? Does it make the other camera start when you start yours, or how does it exactly help?

I want to personally avoid the slate if possible, since 2 cameras could potentially be at different parts of a room, different subjects, yet I want them aligned in the timeline for editing purposes.

I am at work, so don’t have it up in front of me. Let’s just say that its right at the point where vegas lets it get choppy. is there anything I can do or download without extra cost to “interlopate” the slow motion to keep it from being choppy?

So to be short, slow enough that it gets choppy. I am teaching myself vegas from scracth after moving from Premier elements, so I am pretty much overwhelmed and trying to focus step by step on different things that are most important right now. Your assitance is greatly appreciated!
