A hardawre issue related to a desire to use Vegas w/triple monitor set up. Hardly any activity in the hardware area, so maybe someone can help me from here. It would help my Vegas Workflow/frustration and moving windows and having a small preview area.!

Is there an easy way to setup my triple screen setup?

I have a dual screen setup with an Nvidia card, supporting dual. I’d like to plug in a preview monitor through the generic graphics that came with computuer and have this as a 3rd monitor for this purpose…. but I don’t know where to begin. Is it possible to use the Nvdia and also the graphics card that came on the computer.

Lastly, do I need some software to allow the 3 monitors to work as a desktop span…. Is there a free/open source program, or will windows do it fine. (will this require me to uninstall Nvidia’s manager?

Hopefully you can help. I’ve googled myself to death to figure this out and still can’t,

Hey Sheldon, if I understand you correctly, all you want to do is have a larger preview window? If so, simply undock the preview screen and drag and drop into your second monitor. Then size it to fill the whole screen. Vegas will remember this setting automatically. About using a third monitor I don’t know, as my Matrox Parhelia video card supports only two monitors and a third S-Video out (for a TV) But viewing on a TV is not something Vegas supports, as far as I know, other than via the FireWire cable on your Camcorder and then your Camcorder connected to a TV, via analog RCA cables. I could be wrong about that. But I’m sure one of the resident gurus like Gary or Ed will have a more solid answer for you.

Thanks for your time. No i don’t want it just for the preview window. I’d like it as an extension of my desktop so I can preview on it, with a larger size, due to all the rest of the windows I keep up while working. It needs to be part of my desktop.

This is more of a windows desktop feature i need that will help my workflow in Vegas…..

    Hope this helps. Sheldon

Sheldon, I believe that you’re going to need 2 video cards.
There’s a thread on the SOny Vegas forum titled New PC: Graphics card setup for 3 monitors? that goes into more detail.

Thanks everyone. I actually fixed it. I went into CMOS enabled dual screen, and when i booted it up windows recognized the 3rd monitor. That easy. You should try it. 3 screens for video editing and you won’t ever go back to 2!!!! I think i’ll eventually stop at 4… (a TV to output to as the 4th)….

I have 3 monitors. All I can do is have the same thing on both screens. What do I need to do to get all three working. O and only 2 screens power up now because I only have a dual connector
