[Charlie Austin] “The ability to adjust clips in sample increments is more like a DAW. FWIW”

You can also edit and adjust clips down to the sample level in Premiere and Vegas… FYI. Speaking of… I think Vegas gets the prize for being the most DAW like. 🙂

[Steve Connor] “The idea that if London and LA Post houses don’t use FCP X then it will die is frankly laughable. Hard for some to imagine a world outside their own particular orbit.”

I think that could be said of just about any of us… workflow, NLE, OS, creative tools in general… whatever you prefer to use in your work, there always seems to be someone willing to disapprove of your choices… 🙂

EDIT: And I do mean ANY of us… supporters and critics of FCPX alike!

[Rich Rubasch] “To what is Trevor commenting on? Where is that quote from?”

It’s in the “Managing the IBC workflow” section:

    https://svgeurope.org/blog/headlines/svges-football-production-summit-world-cup-update-with-dan-miodownik-of-hbs/

“I mentioned the 36 HBS edit suites: the decision was taken to move from Final Cut Pro once Apple had decided (for reasons that have yet to be explained to me) that they were going to move away from, let’s say, the professional platform. We started working with two or three different suppliers and in the end we’ve selected Adobe Premiere. And we’ve been very pleased with the work we’ve managed to do with them to come up with a system that allows us to work very quickly on-site with those who may not have worked with Adobe Premiere before. We believe they will be able to arrive at the IBC and seamlessly start work.”

I did not know this…. very interesting. Thanks for sharing, Walter.

[Oliver Peters] “Red Giant’s answer to Motion templates? With a subscription model.”

Okay, for the nerdier amongst us. Here’s how RG will be churning the plugins out so quickly. After watching this, my first thought was, “why in the world don’t we have something like this for building scripts and expressions in AE?”. 🙂

I just tried a few of the distort and glow effects in AE, very nice – exactly what I expect from Red Giant. I look forward to hearing how these plugins work for the FCPX folks. 🙂

[David Mathis] “You just beat me to the punch. This looks promising. In relation to this Rampant Design Tools has come out with products for 2k, 4K and above. Noticed that on HD products, the prices have been reduced. This is very exciting news!”

Did you download the Universe application yet? I just installed it, but haven’t tried any of the plugins yet.

[Oliver Peters] “Red Giant’s answer to Motion templates? With a subscription model.”

Looks like it’s RG’s newest generation of GPU accelerated plugins, offered via subscription model. I think they’ve done two things right though; 1. there’s a free plan, 2. there’s a lifetime/buyout plan. The two plans between them $10/mo. and $99/yr. seem exactly right price wise. I think this is huge, and I plan to subscribe to the lifetime plan as soon as it’s available. I think Adobe could learn something here. 🙂

  • [Oliver Peters] “[Aindreas Gallagher] “can’t you do the same with an altdrag in ppro cc – in that it activates all the edit points for edit trimming stuff?”

No. At least not like in MC. With MC if you drag the mouse from the blank space above a track and lasso around a stack of cut points, you are switched into the trim mode and these cut points are activated. In Premiere it selects the clips you’ve touched, but doesn’t place you into a trim function.”

I think Aindreas may have meant cmd+drag… ctrl+drag on the PC selects all edit points and activates the trim window… press “t” to toggle between that and the program monitor while keeping the edit points active. 🙂

EDIT: I assume it works the same way on the Mac version.

As you say, it would be necessary for the dancers to be precise as they repeated the performance, but that is what good dancers do.”

Absolutely, as much as I love animation… I think the dancers did the hard part. I’m always stunned by the physicality of good dancers, and I’m especially amazed when they can make something so difficult look so easy. 🙂
