October 19, 2017 at 2:15 am in reply to: Vegas Pro 12 does not recognize my audio file ?

    Hello Steve,

As far as I know, you don’t have that choice available within RedCine-X with the audio that is embedded into the clip you shot with from your camera ? I am a newbee to RedCine-X & I have been searching the manual, but I do not see any audio options available like Vegas has. The only codec I am having the issue with is the CineForm codec. If I choose a different codec from RedCine-X, Vegas does recognize both the audio & video, but not with the GoPro CineForm codec ? Vegas only sees & imports 1 clip, the video. I have contacted CineForm already, they don’t think the problem is on their end, & I have contacted Red as well. They just responded back to my 1st email, without being able to resolve the issue yet at the moment, they are looking into it. Therefore I thought I’d also try this forum.

I have used Vegas & CineForm for years. CineForm is 4 times smaller to edit with then Pro Res, according to my calculations of the clips I have recently rendered, therefore I really am hoping to resolve this. Any suggestions ?

Thank you in advance! ! !

    Shawn.

    Hello Steve,

Sorry I just saw you had asked me a question. Yes 14 opened up the file & handled it alright. I have only been working with the trial version for the past 7 days. Been reading about 14 here in the forum to see how it is working for everyone.

Does this surprise you that 14 saw the file alright ? I never did get it to open in 12.

My desktop is probably 4 -5 years old now.

    Hello Aaron,

[Aaron Star] “however, so you may need to try FFMPEG and re-wrap the video into the MXF container.”

The file is an mp4. I have never really worked outside of Vegas before, so I don’t understand this process either, guess I’m a dummy LOL.

I’ll probably just have to upgrade ?

    Thanks for responding!

    Shawn.

    Hello Aaron,

Thank you for responding. I don’t know how to do what you are asking ? Sorry. Vegas simply cannot see the file. The file is a MP4 at 150 MB per second. Vegas 14 did seem to work I just downloaded & installed the trial version. Wasn’t planning on purchasing now at this time however I may have not other choice ?

  • Hello Steve!

    Hello,

I’m using the Sony AVC encoder. Funny thing is I’ve been using this for years, without changing anything. Now Vimeo keeps telling me it cannot recognize my color profile.

Here’s my question then. Where in Vegas can you select your color profile ? Can you ? I can’t seem to locate any area other then when I render out, using the Sony AVC encoder, under the customize tab, under project properties, you can select color profile. It has always been selected to default. OK, how can I check what the default is ? Or is it just naturally set to studio RGB ?

I even tried changing the default to a few other settings in which Vimeo does not recognize any of them ?

What have I changed ? Something has happened ?

    Hello,

Di you start your project from the very beginning by clicking (Match Media Settings) ?

Open a Sony Vegas & click New. Once the new project properties tab shows up, go to the very top far right & you will see a small film icon, once you hover over this icon it will say (Match Media Settings) Click this icon, it will open up windows explorer, now select the media your gonna import unto your project timeline. Now your project will have the correct properties you are seeking.

Select all media, & drag it unto your timeline then render out.

Let me know if this works for you.

  • Hello John!

Thanks for the reply. It could be overheating ? Had my air conditioner on 8 feet away from the computer today but it still crashed. I did notice when I re-booted the cpu was 113 degree;s. Another buddy of mine, suggested it may be overheating as well. He told me to open the side of my computer & put a fan there to blow in more cool air. I had 1 file left to render, & it worked on that 1 70 minute file. it’s been a lot of hit & miss, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t.

I don’t know what a liquid cooler is, but I’ll Google it.

    Thanks again John!

    Hello!

Vegas imports still images by default to 5 seconds, however this can be changed to any value you’d like.

Open your preview window in Vegas. Right click in the preview window area. Select preview device preferences. Choose & click the editing tab. Change the new still image length (seconds) to your preference. For example, if you want your still image to be only 1 frame in length, adjust the value to 0.050

    Enjoy!

March 21, 2015 at 2:27 am in reply to: MXF files not importing into Vegas Pro 12 Why?

    Hello John!

The camera does not shoot AVC Intra 50 in 1080 only 720. The only format you can shoot in 1080 is AVC Intra 200 or 100 Long G50 25 or 12. All other formats you mentioned are in 720 or SD. Had the camera been capable of shooting AVC Intra50 in 1080 I would have kept it,I returned it today, but first spoke with Panasonic Tech support to make certain I knew what it could or could not do.

Thank you for the list in your last post, I kept it so when I do find a camera it will be compatible within Vegas!

    Thanks for all your help!

    Shawn.
