SHut down for 10 minutes…run to the store and get yourself a snack. Come back, power things up.

If that doesn’t do it, try zapping (resetting) your PRAM. DO you know how to do that?

If you are using a capture card, there will be a difference as you are compressing the footage. Are you judging this on an external NTSC (or PAL) Monitor or TV? You cannot judge by the computer display, no matter which on you have…

Why not go straight in via firewire and go in lossless? If you go in via firewire it is a simple data file transfer and the footage will be EXACTLY what you have on tape…

Not DV Stream. That is how iMovie captures. I said as DV/NTSC.

Also bear in mind that DV/NTSC is FULL RES QUALITY, and if the PC isn’t fast with a lot of RAM (or a fast Mac with a lot of RAM for that matter), then it will skip and pixelate.

SInce all your footage was captured at DV/NTSC quality, exporting as 8-bit or 10-bit uncompressed is actually compressing the footage. Even if you go for the nearly lossless Animation codec you will be losing SLIGHT image quality.

If you export all the clips as DV/NTSC again, then you will not be losing ANY quality…just a digital transfer. Much like capturing it from the tape was a digital transfer.

    Nope.

Have to do this manually on every NLE that I know…

Since they use completely different capture protocol, it might not work.

BUT…the Automatic Duck software might offer a solution…

    Are you exporting over firewire?

You cannot insert edit over firewire. Assemble edit only.
