If you are going to burn with those, then it is best to export as as QUICKTIME MOVIE, self contained using sequence settings. NOT Quicktime Conversion. Then when you import and burn with iDVD or Toast they compress it MPEG-2 for you.

Look in the AUTOSAVE VAULT for the last saved version. Duplicate it and open it.

Do a FIND for the File. It might have put it somewhere and you don’t know it.

Forget the Canvas. That is not the place to judge the look of your footage. That is merely a reference monitor to show you what you have in the timeline. You need to view this on an external NTSC monitor or TV routed thru your camera/deck.
Why does it look better in your Viewer than in your Canvas? Dunno…but I do know this:

DV footage requires large amounts of data and many computations. In order to maintain frame rate and be viewable at a normal size, only about one-fourth of the DV data is used in displaying the movie to the screen.

What are you trying to use to extract the DVD files? DVDxDV? MPEGstreamclip? Mac the Ripper?
And what type of DVDs are you burning the VHS tapes onto? DVD+R? Macs cannot read +Rs.
Any issue with looping the VCR thru your camera? Or dubbing the VHS to DV, then capturing?

No. It was running at 23.98. I conferred with the original post house and they said edit at 29.97 then convert the EDL…I asked for verification, and they said do it. So I did. Then we ended up going to another post facility to finish and they asked why I didn’t work at 23.98. Well, because the first place insisted that I work 29.97. So I had to convert the EDL in cinema tools.
I agree. Work offline at the same frame rate as the master footage.

They should. Speed ramps might have to be re-created, but other things should transfer. I edited a short film shot on film, telecined to D5, downconverted to DVCAM, edited 29.97 (should have reverse telecined and edited 23.98), did the EDL convert and onlined the D5 at 23.98. The only thing that didn’t transfer were the two speed ramps.
