Shared cloud storage, and editing from the cloud is possible…but it does come at a price. Here is one option for you:

December 11, 2019 at 6:47 pm in reply to: Dell Monitors will Mirror but not Extend via Daisy Chain / MST?YOu can’t do this through the OWC TB hub. It will support only ONE display output, thus why you can only mirror. For this to work you need to connect directly to the laptop.
I had this issue myself, and OWC mentioned that they only support one display output, not two.

Odd…I still have it. Guess because I don’t have the LATEST version is the reason for that…

[Todd Perchert] “I believe that h264 in a QT is no longer available. That was one of the things we lost a while ago.”
Nope…still encode to that in Compressor as well as Media Encoder. Apple threw out a lot of LEGACY codecs….H.264 is still very much in use today.
[Todd Perchert] “Send it as an h264 MP4.”
Don’t. They want MOV, send MOV. You can still encode H.264 as MOV.
But the rest of the advice is sound. IF your project is 23.98, you’ll have to convert it to 29.97. The BEST way, however, is to add pulldown, delivering a 29.97 interlaced file. 23.98 progressive to 29.97 progressive repeats 6 frames a second, and can look stuttery.

Media Encoder has all those settings available. You don’t RENDER it…you EXPORT MOVIE and in Media Encoder, set those settings.
But is your footage interlaced? Because Jerry’s right, bottom field interlacing is SD, top field interlacing is HD.

Try going back to 2018.12.x…see what happens. Some people reporting sporatic issues with 2019. OR…go to 2019.11…sure to have bug fixes.
And just because PPro plays back native footage fine, doesn’t mean Avid will. Completely different engines in them.

Playing back Red Raw requires a lot of processing power. Is your computer up to the task? What are your system specs? What version of Avid MC are you running? Might also be related to why you can’t transcode the footage…which would be recommended. I wouldn’t try to edit Red native footage.

Let’s just hope he still needs that…10 years after the fact.

If you are running an OS later than 10.9.5, it won’t open. The last OS that the full studio was supported on was 10.6.8…as it was discontinued shortly thereafter. Every OS update after 10.6.8 will take you a step further from things working properly, as OS updates don’t take outdated/discontinued software’s functionality into account when being made. While they did work for many updates, most of the FCS 3 apps broke in 10.9.5, including Cinema Tools. This is why I have an older machine with 10.6.8 and the FCS 3 suite, so I can access older projects, and deal with clients who refuse to update.
