Select both objects. Then select your gradient tool. Then click and drag the gradient tool by starting below the leg and dragging the gradient tool to where you want the gradient to finish (above her head?)

Not to be insulting, but are you looking under Effect>Simulation>Particle Playground?

if you export as a PNG sequence (RBG +) you’ll be able to pull it into Flash and it will respect the alpha channel of each PNG

make a path that you want to have dotted. Make a brush with large spacing increments. Stroke the path with the brush you created and you’ll have a dotted line.

set your mask to None, and apply the trapcode to the mask. The mask is still editable.
