OK heres the deal, I have a single object, an outline of a woman standing. I want one of her legs in front of a line and the other leg in back. So I cut delete and pastethe front leg and arrange it so it is the right order, looks sharp. But if I want the outline to have a gradient, I need to apply it to the original object and the leg and the gradient isnt continuous. Is there any way for two seperate object to share the gradient? Thanks in advance.

Select both objects. Then select your gradient tool. Then click and drag the gradient tool by starting below the leg and dragging the gradient tool to where you want the gradient to finish (above her head?)
