Flash export from AE
Posted by David Modijefsky on July 18, 2005 at 3:16 pmI couldn’t find any info but is it possible to output to Flash with an alpha channel? Maybe through a plugin? I know Flash uses alpha channels nowadays. I’m using AE 6.5 pro

July 18, 2005 at 5:37 pmThanx Seth, but after import in Flash will I be able to export a file with an alpha channel? Because that’s what I need. I’ve tried animated gifs but they don’t come out smooth. The idea is to import this animation over a full screen texture in Freeway.

July 19, 2005 at 2:57 amI agree that the animated gif export from ae is crap. I had to find a workaround for site design stuff. If you output a jpg sequence to its own folder you should be able to import that into flash – or alternately (to save the time it will take flash import the sequence and later to export a larger file) you can make an animated gif out of the jpg sequence in imageready and you can then open a high quality animated gif directly in flash. I’m not sure on the alpha channel issue though. Hope this helps.

July 19, 2005 at 12:33 pmThanx Brant. I’ve messed around with ImageReady but my knowledge of this app is limited. I couldn’t even scale it down in filesize. So I stick to what I (more or less) know and take you idea of jpeg seq. into Fireworks. Time is closing in. Lucky for me it’s a charity job 😉
