Yeah, sorry I should have said above. That’s what I meant. I had a ‘burn’ track and another track above it, set to the default ‘source alpha’. On the track above the ‘burn’ one was a clip and the colour was on the ‘burn’ track.
Under those tracks was just a song, nothing else. There were quite a few more tracks above, but there was nothing on them in this particular portion of the project.I never preview in good quality because the video won’t play normally this way so I can’t really see what I’m doing. I only set it on ‘preview’ when I want to see how the colouring will look like, but normally I preview in ‘draft’. But all other videos I’ve rendered before have come out the same way I’ve seen them on the preview pane, this has never happened to me before.

I have Windows 7 32 bit and vegas pro 9, most likely 32 bit (I don’t know where to check that, but since I’m running a 32 bit OS I suppose I can’t have a 64 bit vegas…). C has enough free space for me, around 10 GB.
Hmm I’m not sure what you mean by RAM preview settings in vegas. -
I did. It was the first thing I tried but it didn’t work.

Hmm I’m using a Toshiba laptop, Windows 7, 32-bit, 3 GB RAM and I don’t know anything else I can tell you about the computer 😐
I’m not sure if you got it right, I’m not trying to edit footage I recorded with my camera, they’re just general clips from the internet & pics. Also, no I didn’t render in 1280×720 and got the black bars, I was saying that when I DON’T render in 1280X720 I get those bars. When I render in 1280×720 it works, there are no bars showing up, but vegas gives me an error saying the system is low on memory when I try to render in HD, so I can’t use that method any more. I wanted to know if there was any other way I could get the full screen without using up too much RAM during the rendering. -
I don’t know. I don’t remember making any important changes on it lately except for installing newbluefx for vegas and adding 2 GB ram (which are of no help sadly). Those were supposed to improve vegas… it all turned out the opposite of what I needed.

avi. I used to have trouble with the file format before so I asked here about it and you or someone else told me about avidemux and how I should convert the files to a specific type of avi for them to work in vegas. I’ve been using the same format since and haven’t had problems until recently.

So… in other words there’s no way I can render my videos in HD unless I change the laptop I use. It’s got a 4GB limit, even if I wanted to I couldn’t add more. I can’t believe it, I just bought this for nothing! 😐

I’m still having problems with opening projects. It’s happening more and more often now. I tried moving the files from the project but it still didn’t work. Vegas just stops responding. If it’s not a bad file what could it be?

I will try that the next time it happens. Though a minute after I posted this, the project opened normally. If it was a bad file, could it still have loaded properly after all?
