  • Problem loading project in SV pro 9

Whenever I try to open this project it stops loading at 23% and won’t go further. I tried restarting the system, it didn’t solve anything. I opened other projects and they load normally. It happened right after vegas closed itself due to an error while I was rendering it. But it’s got nothing to due with that, since it’s not the first time it happens to me. The other time, I closed a project normally, and a few minutes later I wanted to open it again but it wouldn’t load completely. Yet in no more than 10 minutes of opening and closing projects it finally loaded. But this one won’t load and it’s already been a day. What could be the problem?

It could be a bad file. One thing to try is to move the video files to another folder and open the project and tell it to ignore missing media and see if it loads. If it does, then one-by-one add the files back into the original folder and open the project again ignoring missing media. When it freezes, the last file you moved is the problem.

I will try that the next time it happens. Though a minute after I posted this, the project opened normally. If it was a bad file, could it still have loaded properly after all?

Not likely. I was thinking it was a corrupted file which would always cause the failure. Glad to see it finally opened.

I’m still having problems with opening projects. It’s happening more and more often now. I tried moving the files from the project but it still didn’t work. Vegas just stops responding. If it’s not a bad file what could it be?

It could be a video format that Vegas doesn’t like. What format are these videos?

avi. I used to have trouble with the file format before so I asked here about it and you or someone else told me about avidemux and how I should convert the files to a specific type of avi for them to work in vegas. I’ve been using the same format since and haven’t had problems until recently.

That was probably me and I would have told you to convert them to M-JPEG with PCM audio.

So what changed on your computer? (because something did) There must be something you changed about your computer, new software, Microsoft updates, something had to change if they use to work and now they don’t.

I don’t know. I don’t remember making any important changes on it lately except for installing newbluefx for vegas and adding 2 GB ram (which are of no help sadly). Those were supposed to improve vegas… it all turned out the opposite of what I needed.

I wonder if Vegas is hanging in memory even though you closed it and it’s keeping another instance from loading. I would try rebooting your computer and then see if you can load the project.

I did. It was the first thing I tried but it didn’t work.
