Hold on – no info according to FCP? Who cares what FCP says – what does the camera say?
I had the same issue when I shot at 60P for the first time. Scared the crap out of me when I went to FCP L&T and there was nothing there.
Went to the camera and all was fine. That’s when I realized that FCP does not see 60P.
So…. what was your frame rate and more inportantly – does the camera recognize your shots?
I can’t imaging that all the shots just disappeared. Please keep us posted.

Are other projects slow? A while back, everyting in FCP got slow and I looked up fixes and there were several. The thing that fixed it was clearing out all of the old “auto save” and other misc. caches etc. from 100’s of projects that were sitting in the DOCUMENTS/FCP/… folder.
Have you tried that?

November 24, 2011 at 7:05 am in reply to: Sony FS-100 clips getting corrupted on SD cardThis is an interesting situation. I would certainly try new cards. What record settings are you using?
Test other settings too. Have they copied the files to a computer and tested? This would show if it’s a Cam playback problem or a file problem.Looking forward to more info and updates.

Ninja is shipping and is only ProRes.
Samuri is NOT shipping according to their website which has DNx
I’m hoping and waiting that BD comes out with a competing product
that is better and cheaper – as BD always does. -
Great question. I too plan on doing this and haven’t had a chance to see if/how it works.
I’m curious if the SD to HD quality is better on the ingest via the BD card or if it’s better to ingest SD and use software to do it in the computer.
Any one have a workflow for that?

I’ve done these jobs too.
Client gives me a badly designed PP presentation using small cursive fonts. No SAFE areas whatsoever. Original file is 1024×768. I size this down to slightly smaller than 640×480 to create the SAFE area.
They get a SD DVD and wonder why it doesn’t look as good as their computer file!

Can’t you export from FCP to a QT .mov file and choose your final frame rate. We do it all the time for web compression. Size, Rate, etc. can all be changed. You can also do it in Compressor.
Will that work for you?

What camera – FS100.
Remember that QT doesn’t understand AVCHD 60p. That’s why CT is grayed out. This really isn’t a problem though.
Just copy all of your original files to the HD. Then batch convert the FOLDER containing all of the acutal video files in Compressor to ProRes 422.
Then take the new ProRes files and put in a folder. Batch Conform those files in Cinema Tools to 24p or 30p.
This yeilds some AMAZING slow-mo!

Also remember that FCP7 will not recognize 1080 60p. That format was not around 3-4 years ago when FCP7 came out.
If you shoot 60p – just use clip wrap to make then a QT.mov file, then convert to ProRes – now you’re ready to edit.

I went with iKan monitors. Their new 7″ and 9″ have HDMI and HDSDI in/outs.
They also have a great 5″ HDMI only monitor that is very inexpensive.I got the 5″ for my NEX5 and the 9″ for my FS-100. I am thinking about getting the 7″
for an “on-cam” since the 9″ is so large.
