I’d like to upconvert betacam sp footage on ingest to hd. in the blackmagic settings under system preferences, the options for input processing sd to hd are from letterbox or anamorphic to hd. But there must be a way to upconvert plain old 4:3 footage. it odes not upconvert when I use either of these settings with the 4:3 footage. Or am I missing an additional step in upconversion?

macpro, fcp 7.0.3, decklink extreme HD 3D card.

Anyone have any suggestions using the decklink extreme to accomplish this?

    Thanks!

Great question. I too plan on doing this and haven’t had a chance to see if/how it works.

I’m curious if the SD to HD quality is better on the ingest via the BD card or if it’s better to ingest SD and use software to do it in the computer.

Any one have a workflow for that?

Though I do not have experience (yet, until this issue is solved), I have always heard that hardware-based upconversion on ingest from raw footage is superior to software based upconversion after ingest.

Lets hope we hear back about the decklink extreme!
