I’ve actually been hearing the oppisite, and that’s its really no better (or worse) than Avid DNXHD. It’s DCT compression (like regular JPEG), not the more advanced wavelet (like JPEG2000 or Cineform). And 200mbps is a lot of compression for 10-bit HD. Not to mention you yourself saw artifacts at NAB.
I’m not complaining. It’s the best format FCP has ever had. But I’m a lot more comfortable using HQ at all times – whether I can see the difference or not. And if my Easy Setup says its HQ, then that’s what it should be. So I would hope they fix it.
Blackmagic screwed up too. They forgot ProRes is 10-bit and made all their Easy Setups 8-bit instead.

I don’t think SED will ever come out. There’s some kind of lawsuit going on, and its commercial viability to price ratio keeps drifting away (do consumers care if its SED and not plasma or LCD?).
I think the broadcast monitors of 2010 will all be OLED. The problem is, what to do until then. Settle for an inferior LCD, or spend a fortune on gigantic, 200+ lbs. CRT that won’t fit in most people’s rooms.

Since you have an LHE, you can get an SDI-DVI converter from AJA or Blackmagic, which will give you the same YUV-over-DVI output that a MXO will.

As long as the RCA connectors and/or adapters are 75 ohms, it makes no difference.

Not really. FCP Rescue saves your preferences. “Custom Settings” for your Easy Setups don’t fall into that category.

Open Disk Utility, highlight the drive, hold down the option key and click “File”. You’ll see a hidden option to “Disable Journaling”.

If it plays DPX fine then it’s definitely a Quicktime issue. You could try buying QT Pro and see if that makes a difference, although it probably won’t.
Another option is to not use QT at all. There are other ways to play QT movies on Windows. Try searching the internet for “Quicktime Alternative”.

Neither. You should CC to a properly calibrated NTSC monitor.
If that’s not an option, do a google search on how to calibrate bars. Do as good a job as you can on the CRT set and use that. Do not use the projector.
But again, neither option is good.
