Hi Tom. I am editing footage straight out of a Panasonic AF-100, so the media files are .mts. They are stored on an external drive. Thanks for any insights, it definitely is a strange bug.

Wanted to bump this thread as the same thing is happening to me. So far only a few clips have had their audio disappear, and I’ve had to match frame and replace the audio manually to restore it. I exited PP and came back in, and so far the audio is sticking, but if this starts happening all the time it’s gonna be a killer. I’m working on a huge/long edit right now.

Anyone find a solution or find out what’s going on?

Thanks Barend! I was trying to keep it all in one composition because I’m passing it along to a compositor, but in the end the pre-comp worked like a charm. All in all a great solution. Appreciate it.

Guys ~

I know this post is really old, but I just wanted to thank Job for his self-entitled “simple solution”. I was having the exact same problem and it worked like a charm. The advice is still saving people from ripping their hair out, even today.

Hi James ~

Did you find a solution for this? As an ex-FCP editor myself, I find the way that PP works in this instance bizarre, doubling the work you need to do. The method Ann describes only works before you bring your clips in, and doesn’t work for any clip you’ve already put in the timeline. I just did a complex music edit, where I spliced parts of a song into a whole and have over 20 beat-timed cuts. This would mean I would have to delete that music, change the audio format, then bring the new file in and re-edit. A total time drain.

I know this thread is a bit old, but as a recent convert it’d be great to know if you ever figured a workaround.

Not sure if you’re still looking for an answer to this (I see this thread is from a while ago), but I was having a similar problem and found your post. Since then I found this YouTube video that solved my issues:

Now granted my goal was just to have some simple geometric shapes (arrows, boxes, circles, etc) “drawn” on top of my composition, so this worked like a charm. Not sure if it would be a solution for what you’re trying to do. But even if the pen tool isn’t what you’re using, maybe you could still use the stroke filter to set your layer to a transparency and then animate on top of that?

Thanks Ryan, I will head over to the Adobe “Request a Feature” page and leave one now.

I found a temp way to get around this in After Effects. Since that program actually imports the entire nested sequence, you can delete the other shots in the multicam nest until just the shot you want remains. Of course this worked for me because there were just a couple of multicam shots I was affecting… if you needed to do an entire sequence it would be an insanely complicated and time consuming method.

I’m having the same issue with exporting multicams to a variety of different programs. Would love to find a way to “collapse” or “flatten” a multicam in Premiere Pro. Did you ever find a way to do this?

Hey Guys ~

Just to update, there has been a discussion about this over on the Adobe forums as well. Seems like the short answer to whether or not Adobe software can accurately remove pulldown is “no”. In the meantime I’ll continue to use Compressor, and have left a feature request with Adobe. Feel free to do the same if you’d also like to see this feature.
