yes i was looking for a simple on/off state, but this is great to know for future work.

thank you very much for your expertise!

genius! love it. perfect solution. thank you very much!

one question: how come the texture doesn’t generate in betweens? its either on or off. if i wanted to fade them on, would that be possible?

many thanks for the quick response! i’m not sure how i would go about that… could you expand on it or show me an example?

using the freeze transformation is great advice, thank you!

i did get it to work wobble-free with the quarternion tag, but only with linear interpolation, so it felt very robotic. your work around allows me to ease in and out.

    thanks as always!

  • that’s it! thank you adam.

wow, that looks great! thanks brian. can i ask you to talk me though how you did this? how did you get the cloner amount to smoothly subdivide? when i tried it all i could get was a sharp jump. and how did you get the material transitions to work? i’d love to learn this.

re randomizing: i was thinking of throwing in some random rotation of some of the individual cubes, kind of like a rubiks cube… any suggestions?

again, thank you for your input, very much appreciated.

yes it was an issue in r12. i just opened it on a friend’s r14 and the sweep nurbs are affected by the wrap deformer, thank you again. i went through all your steps and it makes total sense.

the only issue now is a lag/white space between the spheres and the lines during the deformer wrap. (see attached file at frame 73 for a good example). it’s fine once the deformer is at 100% but as i’m timing this wrap from 0-100% over 6 secs approx it does look like a mistake. sorry to keep bugging you with this, but do you have any ideas? i changed all the splines and the tracers to uniform/bezier but no difference…

the null group of paths do, but the sweep nurbs don’t, they are completely flat. do your animated lines deform? is it a r12 thing?
