I’m not assuming anything.

I’m an art director not an IT director and didn’t have input into this purchase.

I recommended ATTO HBAs and *they* bought the Apple cards.

I was told that this SAN would work with the Macs, and it hasn’t yet.

The HP provided HBAs, of which we don’t have but one spare for one of the PC systems, does in fact have OS X drivers. (Q Logic) I’m waiting for IT to change the settings in the SAN to serve up the partition to the new HBA. (mapping is done via the card’s WWPN) We’ll see what happens.

Another test will be to take one of my ATTO HBAs and try it with the SAN.

We still have work to do on this, but I have heard something interesting today.

It may be related to the Fibre Channel HBA in the Mac. We were trying to use the Apple-LSI 4 channel 4Gb card. Some HBA vendors are certified specifically for HP SANs and their cards provide some functionality that is apparently missing on others.

I was told this “off-the-record” by a vendor, so we have some testing to do.

Thanks guys for your response. Here’s more specific info. If there’s some info I’m failing to provide, tell me and I’ll find out.

We are connected to the SAN via Fibre Channel through a Brocade 300 switch.

The SAN is just serving up a raw drive that we are formatting on the Mac side.

Disk Utility formats the partition without showing any errors. It’s when you start copying files to the SAN where the problems become apparent.

The files show up as having copied, but are damaged or incomplete.

I and Q are signals specific to NTSC and would only be correctly represented in that specific domain. So not only do you really not need it in the digital world, you can’t really create a pure I and Q signal without NTSC.

I don’t know anything about this specific camera, but I found this site talking about the F900:

This latest rumor sounds like it was written using a template of the FCS-2 release. Whoever wrote it could have at least made it interesting. But then again, perhaps that was the intended effect. Make the coming FCP update sound like yesterday’s news.

I’ve seen the rumor mill used in a rather cut-throat way by competitors in the broadcast business. Stuff will get floated around just to cause FUD.

Unless I’m not understanding your question; To hook up a second monitor, all you need is the following.

It’s a Mini Display Port to DVI, and is only a single link.
You only need the Dual-Link adapter if you need to drive a 30″ display.

I installed WindowsXP on a spare drive, installed all of the BootCamp drivers and then installed the latest Intensity drivers (3.1)

The Intensity Pro did not show up in the hardware management and everything was ghosted in the control panel.

Back to OS X:

I once again removed the (functional) RocketRaid 3522 from Slot 2 and this time placed the Intensity in that slot. Still no-go.

I’ve spent many hours, over several days working on this, and I’m about to give up on it.

I thought the NONE codec was an RGB codec?

Uncompressed 10bit would be the closest to the source material.

I would use the Animation codec for RGB material. It supports an alpha and uses a lossless compression to make the files a little smaller.

I used the web-based contact tool yesterday.

Would the firmware revision matter? I’m pretty sure it had the latest when pulled from the old system.

I’m tempted to install Windows XP on an extra drive to see if the card shows up there.
