[andy patterson] “I was worried about Windows 10 myself but you can easily stop the Windows updates”

Sure, they’re easy if you are familiar with “services”, but for the fact they are default, they are user hostile. There are many things I dislike in MacOS, but I’ve never been tricked into doing a system update.

You make it sound like there’s an office on a lower level at Microsoft with a sign on the door saying “Beware of the Leopard” that has the info I need to stop these incursions.

I’m all the way in Southwest Florida, but I have a couple of Betamax machines that still work… the last time I tried them anyway.

You might want to check the Old VTRs List at https://groups.io/g/OldVTRS

There are many folks there that do transcription and preservation.

I also have a PVW 2800, BVW 40 and a BVH 2000. The PVW has a problem with the elevator I believe, but the BVW 40 works as does the 1-inch. What Zelin’s not telling you is that he probably has an IVC 9000 in his basement… if they have basements in Central Florida. 🙂

So, now the Symply website says that they will be at NAB 2017. No booth number given.

Bob, I was hoping to get your opinion.
I only meant that Promise’s response could have been worded better. I’m sure they aren’t happy, but you at the very least want the customers to feel comfortable about the change. How did Symply get Promise to cede all their sales to them in the first place?

Thanks for simplifying the situation. 🙂

I have a 4 port hub on my desk. Doesn’t look too bad. It comes with a cable, but I got a longer one to get it where I needed it.

I have the Inatek USB 3 card in two systems. Works fine for me under 10.11.6. I didn’t load any drivers, so It has to be Apple’s drivers that are running it. I think there may be issues with Sleep Mode, but I have other cards that don’t do well with Sleep, so I always have it off.

    Bob,

Thank you for the response. Sorry I’m so late in finding it.

The QNAP system since its installation has had other mount points added by IT and is being used for other purposes in the building. So I don’t think I can just go in and ask them to start changing it around. I’m not sure what’s they’ve done to it but the speeds are super slow now. (~70MB/s Read & Write) I have talked to our chief engineer and I think he see the issues. I’ve been looking into new storage for my room that can perhaps be expanded to also cover our three Mac edit systems. The next problem is getting them to budget it.

Maybe it’s another QNAP? SmallTree? Tiger SAN? Don’t know yet.

    Thanks again.
