Oh yes, I know, but there are a lot of people buying old film. In some cases they want the artifacts and degradation. I was completely upfront about the age and the customers were happy. The Tri-X would probably actually still make a picture. I’m not sure about the color stock.
Just in the past few days there’s been a request on the Old VTRs List for the use of a 1970’s vintage video camera. They were looking for an RCA TK-45 or similar. Those things made great pictures in their day and it’s hard to faithfully recreate that look in digital.

On Ebay, I’ve been selling old film that my dad had bought in the `60’s, `70’s and `80’s. 28 rolls of Kodachrome, Ektachrome and Tri-X went for $67.00.

I know of a large media company in the US that owns a bunch of broadcast stations that installs Blackmagic routers in their facilities. (Don’t work for them, don’t know if I can mention names) I had the opportunity to ask their directing of engineering about them. They have had failures, but they were cheap and easy to fix, but nothing catastrophic.

I had the Atto 4Gb FC cards and had to make the leap to Mac OS 10.11 Thankfully we had a bunch of the LSI cards that came from other systems.
Yes, it’s crazy, but my other option is a QNAP box connected via 10Gb Ethernet that only works when it wants to. Most recently, the authentication that was tethered to our domain was a problem. I could connect to one share, but not the one a needed. IT turned off all authentication and then had to do a permission reset before it would work.
I don’t trust the QNAP, so I’m forced to rely on two 10 year old Ciprico Media Vaults… and now I’m running into issues with 10 year old SFP modules. Diode lasers only last so long.
On the other hand, I’m amazed with how long these things have lasted.

I haven’t attempted to upgrade yet myself, but maybe try removing one of the two video cards? I could see it getting confused there.

Oh wow. I feel like I’m back in 1992 on the Fidonet Commodore Amiga Echo. The PC and Mac users visiting, telling the Amiga users how dumb they are for using their chosen system. It’s not a holy war guys! Some people still use Speed Razor and Discrete *Edit. It’s just a tool.

I remember my brother showing me the Quantel Henry he used back in the day. As much of a paradigm shift from my Avid and linear days as was the shift from Legacy to X.

ARM began as a desktop CPU in the late 1980s. It’s been in constant use ever since.

There’s also the speculation that Apple could go with AMD. Who knows? They could put both an ARM and X86 processor in the machines. We could go back to having Amiga Bridgeboards!
