    Thanks Kristian,

Looking further into the Shield. Fascinating what Skaarhoj has done with it.

With our camera application being wireless, after I set up the camera, will the settings hold after it has been unplugged from the SDI. Will the camera body keep these settings after a power cycle? (Battery changes, etc.)

    Thanks for the help.

Why do I get the impression that this line is from an Infocom text adventure game I haven’t played yet.

I’m curious… was there a similar religious war in the era of linear computer editing. In my small market I’ve used CMX, Grass Valley and Sony. I don’t remember anyone turning up their nose at one or the other, just those that refused to learn how to do a match-frame edit or properly set up GPIs and machine control. I know with video engineers, you were either an RCA guy or a Ampex guy. Probably wasn’t the first holy war though.

  • RAID 0 should be a non-starter. Don’t even look at that figure. RAID 5 or 6 is your starting point.

I don’t know anything about the backup utility you mentioned before, but if it was my drive, I might try plugging it into a Mac or Linux box. If you don’t have one, a friend might have one or the other. Or you could download a bootable image of Ubuntu Linux (free) and boot your PC off of that and see if you can mount the disk. That might at least give you the option to copy the files somewhere.

Regarding the drive being plugged in before boot: Have you made sure that the BIOS or EFI isn’t trying to boot off of the USB drive?

I’m apparently not a hep cat like you.

But I’m okay with that, my ESATA tower works.

I got mine at the sale price. I’m sure BMD got some valuable market research out of the sale.
