I’ve confirmed with Apple and my technician that slot 3 is where the LHe card should be. I’m running OS 10.5.6 and QuickTime Pro 7.6. Since I originally posted this morning, I did recently hear back from AJA. There response was disappointing, to say the least. They replied:

“We did not recommend enabling any OSX sleep functions. The problem is OSX does not restore the PCIe bus properly thus causing the freezing problem. Sleeping storage could also cause stability issues. The only safe option is the screen saver. Unfortunately this is out of our control. Let us know if you have more questions.

    Best regards
    AJA Video Technical Support”

I read the supplied documentation thoroughly and it did not mention disabling the sleep function. To me AJA is saying that they “sort of tried to work this out with Apple, guess the customer is on their own”. I come from a background where customer service and product integrity are foundations to a stellar business reputation. I am starting to feel like I’m alone in this thinking.

    Dear Mr. Etiquette,

From your response, I’ll take it you haven’t experienced this or else you’d know what I’m talking about.

As for your “questions”, the model is a “MacPro 3,1″… look it up in your System Profiler. As for the rest, it’s a Quad-Core Intel Xeon with 3 GHz Processing, 2 processors, 8 cores, 6GB memory. I was running the latest LHe software driver (6.0.2).

If you have something constructive to add to this thread I’d love to hear it.

I needed much convincing on this approach, bit I now understand why this is a good approach.

Thanks for the tip, it worked great.

Any ideas on why it might be fragmenting when Mesh Warp is applied?

Thanks Jason. I did a quick test and that seemed to fix it. Did you ever hear as to why and what were happening in regards to this issue?

Regardless of the format(s) you work in, the addition of Color alone is a big enough reason to upgrade. When Color first came out I thought why bother, I could accomplish everything I wanted to within FCPs color correction filters.

    Then I tried Color…

The lighting scheme has yet to be determined, so your recommendation on using Kinos is helpful. When you mentioned the Fluo setting, I assume that’s a preset in Keylight, or is it something on the actual light itself?

As far as the background color, do you know if there certain color specs that The Foundry/Keylight recommends?

    Joey,

Thanks for the info, very helpful. Please expand on the cine gamma topic, I’ll be meeting with the DP today and I want to be able to back up my reasoning for not using the cine gamma.

    Hi Mike,

Sorry it’s taken me so long to get back to you, I’ve been deep in another project.

When I opened your AEP file, it appears you used some plugins that I have own on my system, so all I am seeing is the black logo over the blue bkgnd. Can you post a Quicktime movie for me to look at?

    Hi Mike,

I’d love to look at it but MediaFire is saying:

“This file is currently set to private. This error has been forwarded to MediaFire’s development team. When a file is set to private by its owner only the owner of the file can access it. If you are the owner of the file please log into your account to access this file.”

Can you zip and email me the project file?
