Actually if you read the hover text in the forums list, this forum is for support and discussion. The other forum says tips and techniques, just like the forums actual name. It was created at the specific request of people like yourself so they could go and talk about X, without having to wade through all the discussion type posts. But it’s all good, post what you want, get on the soap box. Not trying to censor your speech, just pointing out there is a forum for X users with a more positive trend.
As far as jilted lovers, I think apples behavior is more akin to an unfaithful mistress who can’t be trusted.
On counting on negative posts, all I can say is “what goes around, comes around”. The Pollyanna’s have done more than their fair share of jumping in on people who dare to complain about X or apple’s un-businesslike behavior.
The big mystery there is why does it matter to them? I speculated on their motives here:https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/335/6427 on June 26th. Despite the time and effort it takes to put up the amount of posts the apologists have put up trying to defend apple, as of today they haven’t put up one to defend themselves, or answer that question of their motivation. *sound of crickets*
And most of what the apple apologist post is often fact-less, laced with inflammatory rhetoric, hypocritical, or at least full of oxymorons, usually to the tune of “I agree that they probably shouldn’t have yanked FCS3 without notice, but isn’t apple the best billion dollar corporation ever and if you can’t see that then you’re a bloody Luddite!”. I’m paraphrasing a bit there for the sake of brevity, but we’ve all read it and know what I’m referring to.Scott Sheriff

I wrote about things that should be consider when evaluating the person Facebook profile, such as the pictures. What do you all think?”I see your point, but I think using FB is loaded with potential problems.
1. You don’t always know the context of the pictures, lots of them don’t have any explanation. Some could be humor, sarcasm, whatever. Most probably are, what they are, but still.
2. People that are hip to what you want to do, could ‘salt’ their FB or other social media pages with heavily embellished facts, or flat out lies.
3. The word has gotten around about employers trolling FB pages for info on employees. Lots of folks have tighten up their preferences to keep most of the info hidden from anyone but friends. Others have sanitized their pages. Or both.
4. You might be opening yourself up for a lawsuit. Since people post a lot of religious and political opinions, plus other personal info you can’t ask in an interview, they could claim that you used something on their FB page to discriminate against them.Scott Sheriff

I for one consider myself a professional, but I rarely do any broadcast work any more – instead I specialise in producing videos for online delivery. Once FCPX has XML and OMF it will be more than suitable for what I do – for my mind, that makes it a “pro” app. Whether or not it’s a broadcast level app is another question.”
OK, I get that. But I think you’re dismissive of the broadcast markets size and scope. In America broadband internet penetration (wired, not counting sat delivered) is only around 40%. TV is in the high 90’s.
Except for shows where a guy like me is sitting behind a switcher cutting the show live, are posted in some form of NLE. Even some of those shows are touched up in post, or have pre-produced elements that had to get posted.
All of this material has a much more complicated workflow than a youtube video.Scott Sheriff

I agree. The Beta PC version has been out for a while. No word on Mac.

I don’t know if thats true. Are there that many folks out there that didn’t have a previous version, and are starting from scratch? Even so, after seeing how apple behaves would you go with FCP, or be willing to pay a premium for the privileged? Avid extending the $995 MC price through September certianly puts somewhat of a cap on the cost of getting an NLE up and running.
It looks like there is only two real buyers, multi-seat shops and those with lower version numbers.
Apple has turned off the pipe without warning, and made it clear they have no intention of turning it back on. I think the solution for adding a license to an existing multi-seat shop is so obvious it’s not worth discussing.
For guys like me running FCS2, this would have only been worth $299 prior to the embargo. Even less if you consider resellers pricing.
In a war between scalpers with NOS, and the black market entrepreneurs, I would guess the black market will probably supply these cheaper than the scalpers. Since those with a good ser# really don’t need it to be in the box, or care.Scott Sheriff

Probably everything except multicam will be here in six months, and multicam will be in the next major release.”
Actually it makes perfect sense. It is foolhardy to count on the future with apple. To look at their past performance, and loyalty, and come to the conclusion they will follow through as promised, or even have the slightest interest in the professional market is delusional.
Avid has already extended the $995 MC offer through September, but has also announced a July 13th meeting in LA to give editors access to top executives.

An FAQ that was a joke, full of non promise and apple-speak.
Oh, and they put the updates back on the web site.The difference in customer service and commitment to the professional market here is as clear as night and day.
