It would be a waste of my time if I did it. Not sure for you. The 4k clips in my 1080 timeline gets the green render bars but without rendering, it plays back perfectly. If I have another video under it, the quality shows reduction. After the log and transfer was completed, I start editing right away with no problem.

I thought I could do real time downconvert with the Kona. Later today, I will try and create a 1080 timeline, render it, and see if I can get to watch it real time. I’ll report back. Thanks.

    Downconvert…… uh… sure… I can’t drop them into the timeline alone?

What about the stuff shot on the HVX-200 1280×720? Should I put that into a 1080 timeline, render it, and then be able to watch it real time?

    Thanks for replying.

The RED footage is being transcoded to Apple Pro Res 23.98 2048×1024.
The other footage is 1280×720 23.98.
More footage coming in today will be from a Sony EX. Not sure what HD format yet.

I was having the same problem here with the 23.98 fps. In FCP, I would see duplicate frames rendered from AE. If I open the media in quicktime, there’s no dup frames. It only shows in FCP. Weird.

After reading this post, I set the comp fps to 23.976 and it worked for me. I have no duplicate frames. No bugs here.

    THANKS GUYS!

Thanks for the reply. I always go to DVDs. This particular one I’m working on, I want to send it to a high quality deck. But after digitizing it, the blacks are crushed.
