Now, for some reason the codec is popping up now, but still please help with my P2 question.

The only type I tried was MPEG-2, I had had no problem with it until I switched to Leopard, so I did a complete restore and reinstalled everything…that fixed it!

I have a 17in PowerBook G4, and all I do with it and FCP is offload P2 footage onto an external HD. I don’t use it to edit, I use my Mac Pro for that. But seeing as how my PowerBook has a single core 1.67 processor and only 512MB RAM, anything would be an upgrade as far as laptops go. Thanks for the input!

I even tried to export to my computers Hard Drive. How can it be offline if the computer is running? What can I try next?

FCP 5 worked fine with Leopard, it was the P2 that had the issue.

It is MacOS Extended. The clips showed up the same way when I tried importing on another drive as well.

I don’t know. How can you tell? In the past I have used a LaCie and a G-Tech, I just bought a Western Digital. This project I am having trouble with is the 1st project I have used this WD drive with. Could the drive be the problem? How would I go about correcting the drive?

As I am importing now, I am back on Tiger. I have not had any problems with P2 until now. The clips show up in FCP broken up into 00:12:22:12 sections, but on the HVX they show up as one solid piece. Any clue why?

The DAC-100 creates 1 file with Audio and Video together. I guess it works differently for different types of NLE’s, but for FCP it creates a quicktime file.
