When exporting to Compressor I set my settings and destination and click submit. I then get a message that says “Cannot submit batch. Unable to connect to background process. i have not had any trouble until yesterday. I need a fix quick! I don’t like any of the settings for QT conversion or the other export option, so I need compressor.
I am on Leopard, FCP 5.1.4 and Compressor 2.3.

That usually seems to happen when a destination drive is offline.

I even tried to export to my computers Hard Drive. How can it be offline if the computer is running? What can I try next?

Is it that way for any type of compression or just certain types? There are many complications with Flip4Mac that cause compression batches to fail, for example. I can consistently compress MPEG-2, but WMV is problematic with the combination of software versions I have at the moment.

The only type I tried was MPEG-2, I had had no problem with it until I switched to Leopard, so I did a complete restore and reinstalled everything…that fixed it!
