I think that the main source of the problem was that the original Quicktime file that I imported (4GB is size) was used multiple times within the same composition, although I had trimmed down each instance of the file.

I also duplicated the same adjustment layer multiple times (approx 40 or even 50 times), also trimmed to the length I required, with Twitch effects on.

Plus, a few instances of a Lens Blur effects, only short instances with a layer mark and opacity flashes on them.

Plus an overall CC Glass and Sharpen effect, which I turned off for the render.
Which one of these do you think was the main cause?

No I’ve never heard of NightFlight, what’s that? My Google search only gave me results for a nightclub in Moscow 🙂

That’s a good point about not buying RAM from Apple, maybe I should get separate costs for RAM from somewhere else. What type of RAM would I look for?

The Mac Pro support up to 64GB RAM, the option was there when I was working out the prices.

When I turn it on I get a message saying ‘Insufficient RAM, multiprocessing is disabled’, so it’s impossible for me to turn multiprocessing on anyway 🙂

I thin that I’ve found a solution, but strangely it wasn’t by using Gopro’s Cineform Studio which they tell you to use for converting your files, this only let me import the audio and the footage was just black in AE CS4.

I did manage to find a solution using Streamclip in the end and outputting a QuickTime file using the Apple Prores 422 setting and 100% quality, this worked fine, I think that before I was just using the default QuickTime setting which is where I went wrong.
