Ok, after banging my head against this all morning. I confirmed with the DP that the field tapes are absolutley NDF. Both the 1500 and the M15 are detecting this correctly. The 1500 is sending NDF TC out. The M15 I cant tell.

-In the AJA control panel it says that the incoming video signal is 1080i29.97.

-I am capturing into DV. Is DV a DF TC codec only?

Thanks, for you help. I feel like a dog chasing his own tail right now.

Also, is 30 fps the same as NDF?

    Thanks,

Ken, have you figured anything out with this? I am in a similar situation. We have rented in an HVR-1500 temporarily to capture with. I am having constant weird, intermitent, and unexplainable TC issues. When logged and captued on an M15U SDI and FW into a Kona 3 all is fine. When using the 1500 with RS-422 and SDI my in/outs are completely random; plus I only get a handle on the front about 50% of the time. Always have one on the end. I have tried everything I can think of. I am thinking it is the deck.

Jeremy, I just got our HVR-M15U and hooked it up via FW. Capturing perfectly. On capture with the HVR-1500 I kept getting the warning that it was reading NDF so I assumed that the tapes were shot NDF and set the TC as NDF. With the M15 I set it at DF and all is fine. Do you know how to get DF out of the 1500? I am looking through the user manual and don’t see anything.

“Uneliable” at best. Wow. Now I am really nervous as we are offlining (donwnconversion to DV with Kona) and then doing an online at another facillity. Is this going to be a nightmare?

Well, sometimes yes and sometimes no. I found that there are random in/out’s set. So I cleared those and recaptured a test clip. One time it seemed to work and another still had the random tail handle and no handle at the head. Plus what is weird is the tail handle is not what I set it at. Its not even a whole second.

So far I have trashed prefs, re-installed Kona drivers.

Did that Jeremy first thing. No effect. What makes it so difficult to diagnose is how intermitent it is.

Nope. Doing it all in one go. What has me confused is why it is honoring the tail end handle but not the the head?

Forgot. Capturing Sony HDV via Sony HVR-1500 deck. RS-422 deck control.
