This is not correct. Speeding up your video is NOT time lapse nor will it look like time lapse – try it side by side and you will see.
Time lapse is missing frames – usually a LOT of them. Speeding up footage that contains ALL the frames will look very different. There is just no way around that.

March 10, 2013 at 9:29 pm in reply to: Cameraman Contract RE: Footage Ownership and Rights – Need Template ModelIt’s part of the ongoing debate of intellectual property rights.
In our case the agreement varies according to relationship we have with the shooter and is also affected by pay. For example we would pay more (or full rate) if our expectation is for them to forfeit rights to the footage. This would be common if the assignment is one where we see value in the stock footage beyond the actual production, say going out and getting footage of Bigfoot (yeah, right).
Or if it is a very mundane and common assignment we are not all that insistent of having full footage rights and if we can use that as a bargaining chip for a little cut in day rate – well that makes my EP very happy.
But then again, one example we have is a client who has a highly proprietary machine they often get footage of at work. The footage itself isn’t going make people line up but competitors might want to get their hands on it to decipher how it works. They need and want sole rights and possession.
Like a lot of other stuff – it’s negotiable. If you are a shooter you should probably not just assume you have no rights to your footage unless it has been detailed out with the client. Nor can you assume it is okay to put in your demo without permission.
On the other hand producers should not assume full ownership just because they paid for the job to be done.
It’s a whole lot of gray so having it detailed out in a Work for Hire agreement can save a bunch of pissin and moanin down the road.Have a COW, man.

Thank you for pointing out the obvious (no really – I’m not being a smart ass). It crossed my mind a couple of times and I dismissed it with the justification that I knew I had not messed with it since last week so I didn’t (wouldn’t) even look at it. But sure enough – someone else was on the system for a few minutes on Friday afternoon and sure enough the component switch was down, not up like it should have been. So thank you for bringing me back to basics. I’m putting a piece of tape over that little bugger.

Well thanks for making me feel small, Bob.
How about if I installed the Kona updated driver that came out a couple weeks ago that they didn’t tell me about???
Everything works fine now. YEEEEEEESH
Thanks everyone!

Yeah, control worked fine.
So what would happen if I installed the Kona updated driver that came out a couple weeks ago that they didn’t tell me about???
Everything works fine now. YEEEEEEESH
Thanks everyone!

No. How?
Not sure if I know what you mean.
Thanks

This all seems like it will be really helpful. I’ll try it first thing Monday morn.
If it is playback settings in FCP, like wrong compression setting for your clips, vs. your sequence, how would I correct that. I assume right now that is not the case as I tried old sequences from a few weeks ago that I had already put out and was getting same result.
This all did start soon after I had tried laying closed caption files in on another SEQ and when it didn’t work a guy told me to change my SEQ setting to NTSC 40:27. That didn’t work either and I switched it back. In fact I’ve tried all kinds of SEQ settings and sat thru hour long renders to make more outout attempts with the same result. What have I mucked up?

Okay, I am hiring out the transcription and file creation. Now I have to take that file and put it on the timeline and make it do it’s thing. I had to do this at another house I was at, but it was Avid. It was pretty simply a PIP effect that highlighted line 21. The render was definitely something to do at the end of the day and hope it’s done by morning.
What do I have to do to this CC file once it’s lined up on the timeline?
