Some interesting thing to ad is that the big cards really speed up heavy processing like NR.
But when it comes to normal grading nodes, you wont get better performance than a dual 4800 or GTX 470 can do.
So it really comes down to what you want to do and how.
Some facilities plan NR and such tasks to not be done during grading session, but over night.
Others what to have it during clients sessions.
But bottom line is, Don’t buy any Apple hardware now.
I am pretty sure the move to windows is due to Apples not move towards powerful machines.
A decent Hackintosh from today will be a great windows setup in half a year.A slice of color…

Either you start with a consistent node tree which is usable for grouping, or you add a node manually to all 25 shots.
And yes, this has been requested before.

I doubt your Raid can play two HD streams at the same time.
You not only need the 220 for one continuous, the disks also have to change position all the time to relocate the heads.
I have 4 black caviar disks and I get 550 from them.
That is barely enough for dual HD on 24p, but not consistent.
Its also a 5.1 Mac and a fast graphic card.

Guys, WTF !!
I bought a 470 because Steve and the nVidia guys had a bad cup of tea or something and didnt deliver.
The GTX470 I am using delivers 1088 gflops which is like 180% of the 285.
Also at work our IT built a hackintosh with a Dual (no mods) 570 and a 220 for UI.
That is a real beast…on paper.
The benchmark I developed shows almost double performance compared to my Mac.
Interesting enough it doesn’t show on the same amount of nodes.
I still can slow it down with just a regular tree and Alexa footage.
And the stability is .. well.. not stable.
As of now I would totally recommend a proper Mac , Lion and a modded card.And give the guy a break, he delivered what nVidia refused to make themselves.
