Sure, I actually witnessed em editors using opacity animation most of the time.
Those and also normal dissolves come through just fine.
But better save that sorry, just ask for a minute of test , with the effects he prefers.
then you both know what to expect if following the same path

    No laughing here…
    Check your timecode.
I bet your quicktime starts at 00000000 and your edl at one hour, 10 hours or ,very danish, 2 minutes.
Resolve is a little like an old aunt, pedantic in a way when it comes to things like that.
It doesnt like to have an offline start somewhere else than the edl.
So, find out how much black you have in your offline (editors ways to get attention), find out the timecode of the QT and the edl and set that in the replace value field.
I hope you know what I am talking about, if not, make a screen shot of your conform window and share that, then we know more.

    good luck 🙂

    Did you try it ?
Works like a charm, perfectly fine on a 1 track edl in v7.
Or lets put it that way :
Whatever you can put in a CMX3600 edl, Resolve will do it out of the box.
    Right now, right here.

I don’t have a good feeling about the one giant Qt thing.
Tried that with a music video and it was lagging like hell.
You rather should use the consolidate function in FCP and export shots from the timeline, I say.
Denoising today should be handled by NeatVideo in FCP.
Then you Colorist can focus on grading.
Next month I might say something different 😉

What would be amazing is to combine that little keypad thing with controller mate in a way we can map slider and dials to the iPad.
With th g13 I have an excellent tactile eperience and all buttons covered.
But as you say, combining slider or dials on one page, wave or iPad would be really nice.
I always always use Saturation, PostMixGain and low , high soft at the same time.
Those would be the ones I would like to see on one page, one great shiny day.

Oh contraire ,the dual 4000 setup is much more flickable and also speeds up Mercury engine apps, Scratch, Smoke, games and so on.
Its by far the best solution right now.
Besides the power house Cubix solution of course.

i think its hard to judge right now when both Apps are in beta and a bunch of new features will be introduced .
I have access to both and I would call it a draw .
But let’s wait for the release versions and look at stability , audio placement, pricing and round trip possibilities .

Asking that in a biased forum Is always tricky, right. ?
But since I know both I say , you might want both .
DaVinci had more sophisticated grading tools but falls short on all editorial and multiversion things .
But both come with a broader toolset soon.
So, maybe the coolest thing is to get Scratch lab AND DaVinci , that’s doable budget wise and possible due to the Mac versions .
