Hi Michael – a question considering this: If I pull down the Fader on the Audio Mixer – that is nice, but how do you make FCP remember that? Can you record Fader moves in FCP? That would be awesome.

    Greetings,

Thanx. Good to know, so I am not wasting time, trying to solve this – just going to transfer with Compressor. But it takes ages – transfering with EX1 material and Sony P2 Footage seemed faster.
Does the EOS stuff take always so long – or it’s because I don’t do it with the Log & Transfer?

    Thanx.

WOw, that sounds like a make or break stage in a relationship, Walter.
If I may ask, what features are those, that will make you stay or leave?

Well. Sorry, i did not want to step on anybodys toe here. I’m not dissing FCP in any way. I started editing on Premiere, then switched to FCP and I use it since 10 years together with AE. Because I like it, I do not wanna switch, specially not to PC. I just wondered why they skipped on so major improvements. Keyframed masks for example would be really a necessary one- I don’t think Sony Vegas has a copyright on keyframed masks.
But thanx for the tip, I will write it to Apple’s feedback site.

Well, I did not find a solution yet. But if you should stumble upon one, please, also let me know. It really bothers me and seems so under-standard for an application like After Effects. 🙁

    Hi Chris,

Would like to specify the question and my case – I have 70min NTSC footage, which I have to edit a 3,5min PAL music video. I thought to first edit it as NTSC Footage in FCP, and then just convert the final 3,5min to save time and not to convert all the 70min. If the image is not perfect it’s ok – cause it’s old, very old film, with bad quality anyway, but the sound has to be good after the conversion. You think it’s gonna be ok?

About the Compressor: Yes, the quality was amazingly good, but the render time INCREDIBLY long – all the settings put to best it took 10min for 4 seconds.

    HI Chris,

I wanted to do it Dave’s way, cause it seemed more easy – just drop pit in compressor, but in highest settings it takes literally ages.
If I do it in AE, it is actually 29,97 frames to PAL 25, not from 23,97.
What is the percentage factor then?
And where do you exact do the time stretch then?

    Greetings,

    Sascha

    Hi Dave,

I tried to convert it with Compressor to PAL, but it stops with Error message, saying I do not have that Code installed.
    Any idea why?
