I thought Radeon Pro 460 had 4 Gb of ram. Other than that, one could notice that last year Dell, at half the price is 3 times faster than the new MBP running PPro.
I’d like to see the new Dell and a Razer in the same test, and Da Vinci’s Resolve too.

Hi! I have my big desktop PC and a fullw loaded macbook pro 15″ retina. I use mainly Ppro. I also have a razer blade 14″. Everytime I use the MacBook it feels so slow, but some Apps I use on set are only OSX. It is a good time to switch to PC with thunderbolt 3, the Nvidia 1080, with Vr and HDR around the corner.
For Prores I use the last Miraizon codec, it works flawlessly and fast as any codec, and it is implemented as any other codec.

My system is built around the 8 core haswell-e (Overclocked) and two Nvidia Titans with 64Gb or ram. Using Ppro I get 1/2 resolution in realtime with 6K Dragon material. I don’t use proxies, it works well, it’s a 10K machine without monitors, it has TB2 but I am using an internal raid. I output Prores using the Miraizon codec with no problem.

I don’t know what performance could I get in FCPX but this is pretty decent to me. Assimilate Scratch gives me full resolution realtime in 6K. Colorfront’s Transkoder converts 6K to Prores 4X realtime!!!! It is a beast for encoding jobs.

Uf, yes, camera prices are going down, and the problem is: some camera manufacturers release their cameras way after they are announced!

That is not the case with Sony.

The FS5 is a good camera, i’ve already try it, bit it’s internal codec is 8bit 4:2:0, and I want to stay away from external recorders, wich you need to get 10bit from this camera. Form factor and variable ND is great on the FS5, but I still prefer Red’s Raw and prores in the same card. EF only mount is the only thing I don’t like, but I can live with it. Fs7 + CD 7Q+ looses too many shots, and that is not negotiable.

I’m going with a Raven, selling my FS7 combo with raw output and convergent design 7q+ with licenses to get a Raven. I love Red’s Raw and I got tired of Sony menues and problems with raw output and convergent design.

For me FCPX is more like those free to play games with in app purchases. You have a basic starting point and then you can add plugins for more specific tasks.

It is not an UHD monitor really. For 400 dollars more you could have bought the Hp Dreamcolor z27x, the best monitor under 20K for critical work. It even covers 99% of DCI specs.
