I do have access. How do I change the folder? I can’t even find the folder. Something weird is going on. I believe I just hit “apple i” on the folder and change it from there. but I cant even see the folder.
Thanks, Michael

So I would still get Sorensen squeeze and all the othe programs that are in the box?
This is really the best forum and source of info. Avid should pay those who reply here as their own customer service blows.
That said…thanks!

those are pretty sweet deals. this is great. so, just to clarify…if i buy mc6, i can update my xpress pro dongle and download mc4 to run on my current computer, then when i have my new computer – a few months down the road – i can open up mc6 with the same dongle for no extra cost? please please please be true.
thanks to all for your insight and information. i also have fcp license and may just get symphony instead of mc6! will see.

That’s a good point. Part of the reason why I would run the iMac is because of the Thunderbolt. The one I was using with the Pro Res footage wasn’t Thunderbolt. It was on a network.
thanks

Good to know. I’m thinking about buying an iMac and it looks like the operating system should run MC6. I’m a little concerned with running 444 DNxHD footage on the iMac though. Any thoughts on if it can handle that footage? I tried the same using Final Cut Pro, Pro Res 444 footage on an iMac and it couldn’t handle it. But I heard DNxHD is smoother….
The 444 footage is coming from the Arri Alexa.

Apple is a multi-billion dollar company, this might also might be the problem. They don’t feel the need to keep the small professional market. Who knows, they might start building cars next and abandon FCPX.
When X was released I was excited. I like a challenge if the end results bring me from point A to B in a faster and stronger manner. Thinking in new ways is what makes us better editors. NLE was a big leap from the Steenbeck. I do understand we have to evolve. However, X simply falls short. If Apple released a new prince and discontinued their old king, don’t you feel the prince should be worthy of the thrown? That’s another reason I’m miffed. They threw away alot of our high-end tools and just focused on the flash. If they offered a bridge and incentive for FCP Studio owners, that to me would mean they’re thinking about our needs, business and market base. A multi-billion dollar company can’t do that? They simply don’t care…at this point.
The rumors of the macpro tower’s demise is another story. Have you ever tried cutting Alexa Pro Res 444 on a new Imac packed with Ram? Doesn’t work so well. I have been looking at PCs. I can’t believe I would ever say that…
