Would it make more sense to just upgrade to 7?

in fact, anytime i open the command pallet, that too disappears but it will reappear when i hit “default layout”. should i reinstall avid?

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for the response and tutorial. If you’ll notice your first picture in the tutorial, the move isn’t a straight line – it sort of swoops out and back, cutting off your head. I know it is possible to adjust any piece cutting off, but I’m having the same problem as you had in the tutorial. I would just like a straight line from a zoom out, to an adjustment on the x or y axis. Every time I do this using pan and zoom it swoops on a curved line. Does this makes sense?

I can do the move using resize and it shows me the straight line and it works perfectly. The reason why I was trying pan and zoom is because it offers a few more controls for moving on pictures. Although it gives me the problem stated above.

Fixed the problem. In System Preferences I was listed as an admin. Read online someone else having the same problem – but back in 2003! They suggested command i on the local hard drive and checking user prefs; which I did and I was not listed as having “read and write” I set it from there and FCP opened. Strange.

I checked and I am an admin. So I’m completely confused here….

The folder doesn’t actually exist because i wasnt able to completely open FCP to create a project or the folders….

‘i do believe this is the problem – “If it doesn’t exist then perhaps there is a problem with read write access at the system level after your OS install. ” because i wasnt able to even create a project.

do you know how i access the system level? thanks
