I would really like to know this too. I would also like to know if that version works with Snow Leopard.

    I agree totally.

Is there any way to revert to a former driver that does support the extended desktop and if so will it work in Snow Leopard?

I’m really disappointed about that too.I really like that feature and I don’t think that I would have upgraded to the 7.2.6 driver and Snow Leopard if I knew that. I heard that the extended desktop will no longer be a feature in any of the future drivers.

I have been able to just import uncompressed footage directly into DVD Sudio Pro without going through compressor. DVD Studio Pro was smart enough to know what to do with footage that was 486 high.

That said I would test it first because Apple sometimes seems to make changes between versions. For instance IDVD used to be able to handle non DV codec footage in the past as long as it was 480 high.

If you want to see what IDVD is doing with your footage you can look at your footage in the preview player. Non DV footage will have a black bar top and bottom (it squishes the footage that much) and DV footage will fill the entire frame.

Here’s my experience with NTSC footage:

The problem seems to be an IDVD vs DVD Studio Pro issue.

It seems that IDVD will only work properly with footage saved as DV. It squishes the footage down if it is not in the DV codec. This happens even if you crop the footage to 480 pixels high before importing the footage.

The non DV footage imports as it should in DVD Studio Pro. Not sure if the results are the same in PAL.

I also get the green vertical lines when rendering to 10 bit Blackmagic codec using Nucleo.

A few months ago when Nucleo first came out I sent Gridiron some frame grabs showing the vertical lines.

  • I’ve had this problem too. I think that the problem started with the 5.01 upgrade because it used to work fine.

IDVD is squishing the picture vertically by about 30 lines. You can see a big black bar top and bottom. It’s not a 480/486 problem either it happens in both resolutions. It also happens with the Blackmagic codecs and photo jpeg codec and animation codec. DV footage works fine though.

All of the same files work ok in DVD studio pro.

It’s working for me. I’m also using the version 5 drivers, but I have a Decklink sp.

    It’s working for me.

Plugin effects and the BlackMagic plugins are working, and I’ve also been able to export a FCP project to After Effects using the Duck plug-in.
