  • isn’t it true that some codecs expand the video range to the full 255 and when capturing video then compress it back to 235 when you go back to tape? seems like I heard that somewhere.

I looked at your file and it seems kind of big to me. the data rate is 936 KBS which is pretty high. if you open the advanced statistics it says that the frame rate is 25fps but that it’s skipping lots of frames. On my powerbook it’s actual playback rate is between 4 and 6 fps. I think your encoding settings are wrong. I don’t render wmv files but it seems to me that the data rate should be much lower for a movie of this size.

position beziers are not available in the graph editor, but they are available in the comp window. i’m not much of a 3D guy but i’m wondering what the difference is. whether in the position graph or in the comp window, you would be changing the shape of the path. I guess some moves would be easier in the graph, but for me I need to see in the composition where the layers are moving and I can not visualize that very well with a graph…

what in the world are you going to use to playback a 2290 * 1050 movie??? that’s nearly 7MB/frame

compressed png or jpg that’s between .7 and 2 MB/frame or at 24 fps 12 to 48 MB/s Isn’t it about 15% bigger than HD?

I’m not really curious. The biggest I’ve successfully played back from my powerbook is 720P H264 HD quicktimes. The 720P qts won’t playback from an external USB2 drive. The will most of the time from an external firewire drive. I have to admit my external drives are the little bitty two and a half inch ones.
The 1080I HD qts studder and won’t play back smoothly even from the internal drive

by the way the 770P stuff looked amazing on a 30′ screen.

Hey – this is the first time I figured out the answer to one of the questions.

I added matte choker to vegas and then alpha levels. In vegas i set the hardness to 1, the start middle and end opacity to 1, and the color to white and blend mode to transparant

I then added matte choker and ran up geometric softnes to 4 and choked the lines until i got square ends. The lines were not a solid color so I added alpha levels and cranked the input white clear down to 0 which got rid of the gray. Now the layer can be used as a luminance track matte for a yellow layer.

square end stripes…. wow! I’m so proud of myself.

if they don’t move you could just draw the lines in Illustrator.
